The #breathoffireIV release on #gog is exciting, but Linux support is spotty.
The weirdest issue: It doesn't like my keyboard. I use a custom firmware which emulates a bunch of HID devices (including a mouse and two joysticks). Even disabling every sub-element but the keyboard wouldn't let it launch. But if I unplug it and throw on a Thinkpad-branded 60%-plus-Trackpoint I found at the thrift store, it launches fine. After launch, I can put the regular board back, but it's clearly weird.

not sure what it is about #BreathOfFireIV but there's a beauty here that's hard to define. the 2d sprites and the 3d environments don't clash like you would think, instead they blend seamlessly. the sprite-work is beyond comparison for this era; is it the shading? the color gradients on Ryu's entire outfit are so subtle yet give the sprite a 3d-definition and immovable presence; he just belongs in every scene. remove the UI and this could work as a mounted painting.
