If you are an admin caught up in the #Crowdstrike outage I hear you. Just breathe - this will pass. It's not your fault even if you're the one who pushed the update; it's always about programs, systems, and communication. Never blame people. #blameless #hugops

@thisismissem @sgf "blame" is not the same thing as "assigning responsibility".
A good red flag for this is teams that say "We do #blameless #postmortems by not naming anyone in the postmortem".
No! You know you have a blameless postmortem culture when you *can* name people in postmortems without it causing problems.
This can be exceptionally hard to achieve, but it's worth it.

A post-incident review had phrases like "an engineering mistake caused ..." and "the offending PR was reverted".
I suggested removing the judgemental language and sticking to the plain facts.
Just got a big thank you from the author:
"I would never have written it that way if it was about somebody else"Not only is the doc now much better (we got some good lessons for everyone), we're both having much better days for that small bit of feedback.

New blog post: "The Tao of Blamelessness" is a short piece about a controversial word that has become a symbol of my own struggle with CPTSD and understanding human emotion.

If anyone is looking for a new #book series to get sucked into, might I recommend The #Blameless. It's a beautiful and #wholesome #middlegrade #fantasy book published by an indie publisher. It's got adventure. it's got action. It's got beautiful, heartwarming scenes that filled me with warm fuzzies, reminiscing on the better parts of my childhood. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! and the sequel is coming out this week & it carries on with the same energy & awesomeness as the first book. https://bookshop.org/p/books/the-blameless-e-s-christison/18521723?ean=9781957833019
