Alright the post-install playbook for arch is significantly improved.
Still a lot to do, but it’s already much better.

Btw. I just published my first Ansible role to galaxy.
It basically handles the installation of the CachyOS and Blackarch repo for vanilla arch.

Check it out if you like, I’ll definitely implement it to my playbook tomorrow.

And if you’re wondering, the playbook is currently in a testing branch since I haven’t verified everything, just optimized the code.

I’m probably able to check it this weekend when I’m back at my pc (currently working from a notebook) and if everything works it’ll get merged.

Is #kali still what the cool red-teamers are using? I know #parrotos became semi a thing for a while, and I never really knew anything about stuff like #blackarch . I was thinking about trying to go after some #HTB boxes again, even though I struggle with motivation without anyone else working alongside me.

Tried my new VPN gateway on a Raspberry Pi and booted BlackArch live to explore some tools. Sadly, the distro feels abandoned: outdated packages, broken apps, no copy/paste in terminals, and a prehistoric Firefox. A shame, because it still boots under 500MB RAM 😕

Honestly, 50 tools should be more than enough.
Who really tests all 600+ tools in Kali or the 2,500+ in BlackArch?
I tried... but some BlackArch tools didn’t even run properly...

In BashCore and BashCoreX, every app works.
No duplicates. No junk. Just tools that actually run.

Yes, the ISOs are ~7GB,
but we’ve got Metasploit, Searchsploit, and especially SecLists (which weighs a ton) 🤷🏻‍♂️

Damn, if you install the #blackarch repo using #garudalinux it will install 462 packages total 7 gigs of tools lol.

Using #multiarch distro libraries installed on #arch #blackarch for 32bit and 64bit exploit development. Multiarch is great for gcc or musl-gcc. Using #gef for #gdb.

Мне совершенно непонятна популярность #Kali Linux. Это же коммерческий оверхайп дистр, основная цель которого - продавать платные версии msf, burp и заманивать людей на курсы и сертификацию, нет?

Большую часть утилит, доступных в кале, можно поставить в любом другом дистре. Значительную часть утилит, которые использует пентестер в работе "по привычке", как правило, он ставит в ту же калю с гитхаба, что можно, опять же, сделать в любом другом дистре.

Собственно, в чём тогда профит ставить Кали? Чтобы делать clone && make && make install с гитхаба?

В том же #BlackArch утилит в репах куда больше, например - у меня ни разу не случалось, чтобы мне там чего-то не хватало. В крайнем случае, всегда есть docker/lxd/lxc с минимальной калей, если уж и правда какой-то эксклюзив попадётся. Ну чрутнуться, на крайняк

Единственное, где я лично оценил преимущества Кали - в чруте на Андроиде, за счёт приложения NetHunter, но это довольно нишевая штука, и тот же #maemo #Leste юзать в чруте куда приятнее

Может я чего-то не знаю, объясните, кто понимает
