  1. I have installed Garuda Mokka, and it is lovely! KDE, but smoky, gray, with pops of muted rainbow. I quite like it. It took me about a few hours to get the basics configured, I shall do the rest after sleeping. Then visiting the Hungry Chickpea and getting pie because I'll hunger for a meal and then pie!

This time I will get a salad and the chicken wrap (as the chef will be there to make a version without the egg included because I cannot with soft or hardboiled eggs).

  2. Success has been had, I have done the thing again: Messed with the configuration file to make Vivaldi Browser launch using Win Key+B, installed Mullvad VPN and enabled its daemon.

This time the command read "systemctl enable --now mullvad-daemon.service". Finally using the "--now" flag that @wendigo kept telling me about! After all this time, I stopped being so timid over silly shit. 😂 I finally got tired of waiting for the reboot for a service to be enabled. 😅

My mission was accomplished with only a few updates getting in the way as both the Desktop and Laptop Garuda installs needed them! The other issue will require further research and hunting in order to resolve it. However, I do have the config files Garuda Sway and have started to read them. If I get anything useful out of them, that is anyone's guess! ROFL Maybe I will learn yet how to link Fastfetch to Alacritty, and make it display automatically. It could be super simple, or unimaginably hard.

  3. Wow, that Set-up for Garuda Sway was faster than expected. Using what I remembered from my experience with Distroshelf and how it worked the last time…I quickly got it up and running on my Garuda Sway install.

I will probably update some things with the theme of Sway, as I like it but Foot Terminal needs some help…That will come later on over time. As I learn some more about C.

  4. Installed Garuda Sway on my Laptop on the Side. As I don't love peace, apparently. Working from it right now to get some finishing touches done like all of my apps set-up. Once that is done, I will let this thing sleep for a few days.

I honestly prefer the Garuda Linux implementation of Sway, as it is mostly dark mode and shows time in 12-hr format over most who do 24-hr by default. It looks so pretty, I will probably change the wallpaper, and do some basic modifications to the config file. But the Garuda Team did most of the heavy lifting with Sway.

They've implemented so many TUI apps that make navigating Sway easier and implemented mouse support with a lot of window management when possible. Thoughtful and rad, the Garuda Linux team are cooking!

  5. Ah, I fixed the VLC issue with more packages, because they suddenly showed up in Octopi! That makes me very happy indeed. Can't wait to retrieve my songs from the CDs that I still have (that is a project for another day).

It's about time to rewatch this anime, one of my favorites known as: Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex!

  6. Also, I started to read the Sway default configuration file, I also downloaded the Fedora additions to Sway from their gitlab so I can see what they did. As it would be easier to learn how to make modifications. This will eventually make it easier for me to mess with Niri.

As I tried to install the Sway WM alongside Dr460nized Garuda, a weird conflict caused a blank screen after logging in.

I suspect this is due to the login manager used for Garuda Sway is "QtGreeted" that doesn't seem to play nicely alongside sddm which is used for Dr460nized Garuda.

Once, I learn more about Sway, I might switch full-time to Garuda Sway. As gaming customization can easily be applied to any version, it just takes a little patience!

  7. A good thing about getting better with dealing with Linux in general, I remembered how to 'enable' a service so that it creates a symlink that will start after every reboot! I had Mullvad VPN installed but forgot to configure it properly by enabling the "mullvad-daemon.service". The Garuda Konsole is configured to pull up commands commonly used together. This jogged my memory pretty quickly, Garuda Linux is going to become my new Ubuntu, something that I loved for so long.

LOL I got used in the habit of using Wireguard configs. It's nice to make things easy on one's self!

Knowledge is the key to a smoother life.

  8. Huh, so VLC couldn't play any of my...videos and it was pretty strange that MPV media player worked just fine. Garuda Linux is a strange one, I normally have zero issues with VLC (if I do, they can be fixed by installing packages).

I even checked to see if all the codecs were installed, they were. I didn't find any other codecs that could be installed aside from the ones already on my machine. That was a head scratcher, as other distros VLC tends to work the best.

I just uninstalled VLC and will be using Strawberry Music Player for my songs.

  9. Update, I got the urge to try a new distro, but that initially failed. Oh well, Garuda Linux it is as I got a little tired of openSUSE Tumbleweed, and I was hoping to install Nitrux.

However, it failed due to being unable to write its unique init and xfs file system on my SSD.

I backed up all my stuff so this is a non-issue. Garuda is going to save the day yet again.

    #Linux #NitruxOS #GarudaLinux

  10. Update: I got Garuda Linux installed and it is very nice! Colorful, solid, worked right away without issue with getting it installed on this laptop! I could install everything easily either through the Garuda tool or Octopi.

Wayland is the only display server, I am glad that Garuda Linux believes that Arch can be like this...Freaking hell, it feels so slick. Leveraging the power of Arch without making it a ballache. I do need to do one more restart before getting even more software installed.

    #GarudaLinux

  11. Edit: My laptop could not detect my Wi-Fi network, archinstall needed Wi-Fi which was a kick in the dick. Like, what the fuck, iwd was useless. Looks like I am installing Garuda Linux. If that fails, well, it's back to Solus.

So, I did not get overly far in troubleshooting Artix, I thought Xlibre wasn't going to be installed on my system because I was using a mainly Wayland session only. Turns out, dammit, this is not the case as I started a "sudo pacman -Syu" and saw it was being updated. Annoying.

Looks like it will be time for Arch because I will not let that tainted project be used on my Laptop on the Side. As they recently exorcised xorg from their repos...Ugh, given that everything that I needed is backed up. I can safely bugger off from #Artix_linux

It was cool that there was a different init system, but, I can't truck with Xlibre.

  12. Hey anyone running #GarudaLinux - I'm not but two of my friends are, and I have a couple of questions I was hoping could be answered.

    1. One of them can't upgrade their system at the moment as librewolf can't resolve the dependency libvpx.so=11-64

    2. The Other hasn''t been able use Blender for the last 2 months because Python is incompatible (apparently a function name changed to do with string manipulation)

Any advice on how I can help them fix this?

  17. Since having Plasma and COSMIC on the same machine causes all sorts of issues, I’ve assigned the task of keeping an eye on COSMIC to Hevy.

COSMIC is still missing features I’d like to see, but it’s coming along nicely.

    * The artifacts around the windows are coming from the COSMIC Screenshot utility.

  18. One of the nice things with Garuda Mokka is you get some ricing, applications, tools etc. ootb. But all can be adjusted, turned off or even deinstalled quite easily. Everything has been added as separate packages, not meta packages. Which means I can deinstall KDE Connect separately, without any complaints about Plasma Meta being broken. That's great 👍🏻.
    #GarudaLinux

  19. The Garuda Mokka spin is a customized version of KDE, using the Catppuccin color palette. Beautiful and of course all goodies that can be expected, like Snapper btrfs snapshots etc. Noice.

  20. Appo is back and better than ever! He was running macOS as a BlueBubbles host, but I never used it, so he sat unused for nearly a year until I brought him back to life with Garuda Linux!

He’s a bedroom PC connected to my TV and stereo HomePod mini pair at the moment. Whatever I can’t play though my AppleTV I can play on Appo and still get stereo sound on the HomePods!

  21. @rklinux is my new favorite distro. It’s , but opinionated and comes with some very nice built-in tools.

I use the “Mokka” edition. I was so impressed with its speed and flexibility compared to Fedora that I started installing it on every computer I own. It’s not as friendly as Fedora, but it has some great built-in tools, and I’m at the point now where I can manage things by myself and fix my own mistakes…mostly.

  22. @sturmsucht @berniethewordsmith After looking around for a distro that played nicely with Davinci Resolve (they suggest Rocky, but I did Not Like) I ended up using Garuda, which is a similar gamer focused distro, but Arch-based. It provided easy installation and tweaks to get everything working without too much fuss. Apart from the lurid colour scheme (think 17 year old boy's idea of cool desktop theme) it was a rock-solid desktop for $dayjob. My later installs have all been Arch from scratch but it was a good way to get into the distro.

  23. NGL, having automatic display brightness again on my 11-year-old MacBook Pro is pretty freaking sweet!

Garuda Linux is working so well on this old tank that I might actually purchase a new battery for it and put it back into service! The only thing not working up to spec is the built-in BCM4360 Wi-Fi, forever stuck on 2.4GHz, but remedied with a USB dongle.

  24. @itsfoss I've become a big fan of #GarudaLinux. Really any Arch distro, but I really love the cosmetic touches in the Garuda flavors.

  25. works so well on my 10th-gen laptop, I thought surely it won’t be able to work on my old 2014 iMac, it’s probably too old.

Garuda Linux: Hold my beer. And don’t call me Shirley.

After the debacle that was Manjaro a few years ago, Garuda has restored my faith in Arch distros.

  26. with KDE Plasma is still my daily driver on Fives, and the more I use it, the more I like it.

Still not as easy as when it comes to app installation and management, but Garuda is faster, supports hibernation on my laptop, and the built-in “Rani” app for system management is great stuff. So far, the only issues I’ve had with it are ones of my own making, so no complaints.

  31. Thinking about migrating this devices to #guix so I have a #garudalinux (#archlinux based) and I want to migrate to #guix, problem is I need a client called #seafile and right now it doesn't exist for #guix. Its what I use to sync almost everything.

  32. Went from Garuda Cinnamon to Garuda Mokka (KDE) for a couple of days, but it was too buggy so I went back to Cinnamon. Not sure if it's KDE Plasma's fault or Garuda's, as I had never tried KDE before. The stability of Cinnamon seems hard to beat though, and I have tried it on 4 distros at this point.

  33. Been impressed with as a daily driver on my laptop compared to Fedora. Garuda boots faster, has a very nice update system & built-in tools, seems to make the fans spin less, and has hibernate support!

Downsides: it doesn’t like SAMBA, it doesn’t support KDE Discover nor `pamac` NOR Flatpak! Yes, I can install Flatpak support, but come on, Garuda! Octopi is for masochists who don’t care about app discoverability.

    @garuda

  34. #CachyOS on an #IBM #Thinkpad? It's more likely than you think. I had a few minor gripes with #GarudaLinux so I went ahead and hopped to a different #ArchLinux flavor. #XFCE is the desktop environment of choice. One of these days I might just end up on base #Arch. :KEKW: :sickmeme: #IUseArchBTW

  35. @dialektgefahr #garudalinux can’t go wrong super easy to run, lots of desktop flavors.

  36. Needing to use mesa-git to get good FPS at the moment. Though it's also causing some annoying graphical glitches in some games. Hopefully that'll all be ironed out soon. Impressive none-the-less. Getting 90-120+ FPS among various games at my ridiculous 7680x2160 resolution (with the help of FSR in most cases). #9070XT #PCGaming #GamingOnLinux #GarudaLinux

How does one select multiple packages/ software apps while browsing pacseek interface (the ncurses whatever type thing package manager oft used with #ArchLinux #EndeavourOS #GarudaLinux )?

The [ ] checkbox area suggests one might place a checkbox there.

so, you know. ROTFLMAO and it doesn't seem to tell me anything about even TLDR enough to blow-ma-friggin-mind. like Richie Rich, on Adult Swim as a claymation character talking about gold.
