Horns of Ammon (Paleontology 🦕)
The horns of Ammon were curling ram horns, used as a symbol of the Egyptian deity Ammon. Because of the visual similarity, they were also associated with the fossils shells of ancient snails and cephalopods, the latter now known as ammonite because of that historical connection.

(2/n)"Akhenaten founded and moved his dynastic government to, #Akhetaten, referred to as either #Amarna, El-Amarna, or Tell el-Amarna by modern scholars." 2)
The new #religion and the new capital did not survive the #pharaoh's death.
His likely son, #Tutankhamun, born #Tutankhaten, moved the capital back to #Thebes and reinstated the #Amun 2) priesthood.3)Both...

#History #Egyptology #Echnaton
(1/n)Sounds great.
It is the same person, though. #Echnaton 1) changed the name because #Amenophis is a tribute to the "household " god of the pharaohs, #Amun,* who reigned in #Thebes.
By one account, he broke the stranglehold of the priests of Amun, who had become too powerful, by making the sun god #Aton/ #Aten, the one and only god and him it's sole interlocutor.
Furthermore,...

As I can't decipher anything and as I am a fan of #Egyptology, is #Amenophis IV/ #Akhenaten/ #Akhenaton/ #Echnaton, the inventor of #monotheism in your table?
In particular, is there a connection to the #Abrahamic religions?
As the heretic pharaoh was later on expunged from history by his successors and the #Amun priests as much as possible, I have often wondered whether this radical concept survived this severe punishment.. -

New statues for #Hethert, #Nut, and #Amun
In 22 years I have never had my entire lineup have proper statues (only Wepwawet did) -- Hethert, Amun, and Nut have always had non-#Kemetic iconography on my shrine, just kind of worked out like that, and They were certainly OK with it.
But now Everyone has something, and I just feel really good about that.

Finally upgraded my big shrine to the modern look I was craving. No more hand-me-down wood/glass table falling apart at the seams, no more $10 shitty walmart table. (my little daily shrine is still off to the right)
I feel good about this. May add LED lights!
Dua #Wepwawet <3
I also have new statues on order for the rest of my lineup (#Hethert, #Amun, and #Nut) as the current ones are due for an upgrade, though I do really love Amun's ram that I found at a thrift store.

This week's #TinyEgyptTuesday is a 3.4 cm faience amulet of a composite deity, with the body of #Bes, a ram's head and horns (#Amun ...?) and the wings of a falcon (#Horus) down his back, now in the Garstang Museum of Archaeology in #Liverpool. Vor Jahren begann Unterwasserarchäologe Franck Goddio, die Bucht von Abukir zu erkunden. Er entdeckte eine versunkene Hafenmetropole, die zuvor nur aus alten Schriften bekannt war.
