    Context: Howard Carter discovered the entrance to Tutankhamun’s tomb on 4 November 1922 after years of searching in the Valley of the Kings. Clearing the stairway revealed sealed doorways that had miraculously kept the burial largely safe from looters. On 26 November he looked inside and saw a room filled with untouched treasures. It became the first nearly intact royal tomb ever found and ignited global fascination with ancient Egypt.

I'm convinced that the widow in question who wrote to #Suppiluliuma was #Tutankhamun's wife #Ankhesenamun who - after his sudden death at just 18 - was shortly married to his old religious consultant and successor Ay but then refused to marry his next successor #Horemheb. she had known him for many years as the military leader and diplomat under her late husband Tut and knew about his common origin. "I would not wish to take one of my subjects as a husband... I am afraid."

    This beautiful pendant illustrates throne name of Tutankhamun, “Neb- kheprew-re.” It's central element is sacred scarab “Khepri” made of one piece of lapis lazuli.
    Pendant is additionally inlaid with turquoise, coral and onyx and decorated with copper.

  20. The ancient Egyptians didn't know about the dangers of inbreeding, but King Tut paid the price. He had a number of congenital defects including a cleft palate, a club foot and buck teeth. Despite probably being slightly disabled, artwork and other artefacts found in his tomb suggest King Tut was an avid hunter, charioteer and a skilled archer.
