@s1m0n4 @jolla 3rd-party Sailfish OS devices don't have Google Play services or the Google Play Store; not sure about the new Jolla. This means that non-free, proprietary, closed-source apps can't even be installed unless you jump through hoops and set up microG. Even then, if the app itself depends on the Google Play services, it won't run.
Out of the box, the only Android apps you can get are those on F-Droid. On the other hand, Google can't take F-Droid away from Sailfish OS.

@SteveTux @nikita Kompatibilität von #Android #Apps zu #SailfishOS kommt drauf an.
Die alten Geräte, die damit geliefert wurden, hatten noch #AlienDalvik mit #GooglePlay (Services & Store).
Offiziell unterstützte Drittgeräte (Sony-Xperia-Mittelklasse etwa) haben Alien Dalvik, aber ohne Google Play. F-Droid geht. Goldene Mitte.
Nicht offiziell unterstützte Geräte haben gar kein Alien Dalvik und können nur SailfishOS-Apps nutzen. Da wird's auch mit #Storeman und #Chum düster.

I am not happy with licencing of Android-support (#aliendalvik) by #Jolla. I liked to support Jolla for developing the awesome #SailfishX OS and bought 2020 a licence.
After losing and getting a new #Xperia XA2 I reinstalled #Sailfish again, downloaded from Jolla store. Now I learned to live without Android-support and that activation is bound to one IMEI.
I requested the support now to change the IMEI, but sadly they let me enough time deciding to install #LinageOS 😞

Puh, das #SailfishOS-Update hat tatsächlich anstandslos funktioniert und #AlienDalvik läuft auch noch, auch wenn ich es nur für #Conversations und die App meines Autoherstellers brauche.
Wie auch immer:
Diesmal habe ich dann doch etwas gründlicher als sonst auf das Backup geachtet ;) und bin sehr glücklich, dass es nicht nötig war. ... -
@pallenberg #Totholz hat einen Riesenvorteil: Es ist systemunabhängig.
Wenn nur auf eine #App gesetzt wird, braucht man, um den #ÖPNV nutzen zu können, zwingend ein #Smartphone. Aber nicht irgendeins.
Wer kein #iPhone hat/will, braucht ein #Android-Gerät. Mit #GooglePlayServices und #GooglePlayStore. Und einen #GoogleAccount. Anders kommt man nämlich an kommerzielle #Apps nicht ran.
Ich könnte dann nur noch #radfahren trotz #AlienDalvik.
Sonst ginge noch eine #Chipkarte.

Ist leider für mich keine Lösung. Die App funktioniert nur mit nativem #Android, weil sie zwingend gewisse Systembibliotheken braucht, die direkt auf die Hardware zugreifen. Ich habe aber kein #Degoogled Android, sondern #SailfishOS mit #Aliendalvik, eine Kompatibilitätsschicht, die den Apps nur ein Android vorgaukelt.
Die App ist zwar in #FDroid vorhanden, aber auf meinem Gerät nicht installierbar.

@wolf @ulrichkelber Erstmal eine sehr gute Nachricht.
Nur schade, daß #SailfishOS auch mit #Aliendalvik weiterhin mehr oder weniger außen vor bleibt. Die App braucht android.hardware.bluetooth_le, was Aliendalvik nicht hat. Und die native Sailfish-App Contrac (https://openrepos.net/content/flypig/contrac) ist eine Public Beta mit dem Status "kann funktionieren, kann aber auch nicht funktionieren, der Entwickler weiß es selber nicht, Nutzung auf eigene Gefahr".

@ulrichkelber Vor allem sollte die Ausübung von Grundrechten nicht davon abhängen, daß man sich #Apple und/oder #Google an den Hals wirft.
Remember: Wenn man kein iPhone hat, braucht man für die #CWA den Google Play Store, die Google Play Services und ein Google-Konto.
Hoffentlich ist bald die microG-lose #FLOSS-Version fertig. Und hoffentlich läuft die auch auf #Aliendalvik. Ansonsten sind die Nutzer von #SailfishOS genauso weiter außen vor wie alle anderen iPhone/Android-Verweigerer.

After installing today's #SailfishOS update (3.3.0.14, Rokua) on my Sony Xperia XA2 I can not start the #Aliendalvik Android engine any more. I have even tried re-installing it; didn't help either :(

@amolith Not actually an Android user: I'm running #SailfishX on an Xperia X with #AlienDalvik compatibility layer. #Fdroid is the only Android store I'm using, except for three proprietary apps (online banking, TV streaming, TeamViewer).
