  7. #NixNet's #Pleroma instance has updated to a fork called #Akkoma from @FloatingGhost; we now have

    - Local-only posts
    - Timeline specifically for DMs

    and most importantly

    - Custom emoji reactions that properly federate with #Misskey :bolbcheer:

There's probably some other nice things as well but I haven't poked around enough to find out :blobcat3c:

  10. Hey :blobfoxboop:

The #Fediring's WWW ring now ensures sites return a 200 OK before performing any redirects :comfyaww:

    https://fediring.net

If the site returns anything else, it gets skipped. If none of the sites return 200 OK, you get a message asking you to shoot me an email because I apparently need to bonk the backend :aswfforcebanhammer:

Don't forget about the #Gemring either :comfy:

  22. @dredmorbius I had a few channels registered in the #nixnet namespace under an officially registered project and they were all seized last night because we migrated to Libera and mentioned the move in the topic.
    https://nixnet.social/notice/A7d44R5GpcL3cCA3CS

After that, I just deleted my account and replaced Freenode with Libera everywhere on my website.

  25. @TransGal4872 @eris @jbauer nuuuu, IRCv3 is big thing that should bring a lot of "modern" features with it
    https://ircv3.net/

for example, if someone is using a client that supports IRCv3, they'll have access to all the messages sent in #nixnet even if they've never joined the server before. oragono even has "history playback" for clients that don't support IRCv3 and has awesome puppeting support. screenshot is of people on telegram talking to people on matrix through IRC and the IRC experience is actually *better* than on the other platforms*

*until matrix quotes a message or telegram replies to something then it's shit again. but you get the idea. ircv3 is beri beri gud
  26. We have new #Gura emojis :gura_dance: :gura_a:
  27. I have never in my life subscribed to #Crimeflare's blog and I just now got this email to both [email protected] and [email protected]. It appears to actually be from Cloudflare and not someone spoofing their address.

This is the second time I've had to unsubscribe from their shit after never even subscribing in the first place.

You can also join #southeastlinuxfest on Freenode for questions and such but keep in mind there is a good deal of latency: ~30 seconds difference between the audio and video streams but I don't know how far behind the audio is to begin with

  32. Just started streaming Shadow of Mirror again. My next mission is to defeat the Black Hand of Sauron

  34. I just found what could be a really cool way to build a website. , by , "is a minimalist web anti-framework built following the and tool philosophy of software design." You can write your entire website using something like , the core codebase is only 150 lines, there are extensible apps that allow for comments, galleries, etc., you can run different (custom) versions of werc side-by-side, you can write your own apps, and so much more!

    werc.cat-v.org/

  35. So the challenge for this week is to either try Fedora 29 or go 100% command line: no GUI. 733t h4xx0r that I am, of course I have to go with the latter. Starting tomorrow, I will boot straight into a TTY. No games, no browser, no GUI file manager, etc. I'll be using , elinks/lynx/w3m (not sure which yet), , and all the TTYs to replace workspaces.

I'll try to keep you guys updated on how it goes! Don't expect any screenshots 😂

  36. Saturday morning, I was asked to do all the music for church on Sunday. That includes leading the congregation as well doing the special music. I spent all day trying to learn a song on the guitar to play and sing and, around 6:00 that evening, I gave up. I decided to arrange something simple on the piano. Everyone loved it and the choir director said I should transcribe my arrangement (it was all in my head).

  37. CW: I feel productive. (It's kind of long)

I then learned the best practice for custom commands: creating a directory in ~/ and adding that to your path. Now I can use my XF86Brightness keys to increase/decrease it instead of running "sudo vim /sys/class/backlight/amdgpu_bl0/brightness" every time I want to turn it down.

I also moved all my music equipment to the other room and got it set up so I can finally record some music when I have spare time with my on a
