@zanshin yeah I'm really liking it. I tried it first and then said, well, let me try the commercial products, they MUST be better, right? But for what I need, I actually like MuseScore better and went back to it
For transcribing existing music into it I think I have a pretty good process now. I'm not yet completely happy with my workflow when I'm "writing" but getting there.

there's a feature I'd really like in MuseScore and while there seem to be a couple of issues requesting it, doesn't seem like there's any activity on this feature.
seriously considering pulling down the codebase and seeing if I can build it locally, and start figuring out how it might be done...
(so much for any free time I thought I had in the near future...)

I have been using MuseScore Studio for some semi-classical composition for piano/organ/synth. I have used the MuseScore Studio plugins to play my compositions because I am not yet that skilled :D

CW: rant about MuseScore and dark patterns
Really don't know why I keep getting emails from MuseScore that keeps bugging me to subscribe to PRO+ (which costs like €30 per month! I ain't buying that)
I thought I opted out of receiving promotional emails??? Well, hold on, got a bit of explaining to do.
When you sign up for a MuseScore account, there is a checkbox that you can toggle if you want to subscribe to promotional emails or not, except here's the thing, it looks like it's turned off by default except it says "I don't want to receive promotional emails", you have to enable this checkbox to OPT-OUT of promotional emails, it's so fucking stupid and this is a dark pattern.
I got around to check my MuseScore account and yes, I did opt-out of promotional emails, however I notice that there are other things such as product news and marketing emails that I need to turn off.
I turned those off, maybe MuseScore will stop spamming my email. If it keeps spamming my email then I'll try to unsubscribe via the link and if it still keeps doing that... well I don't know, maybe I'll just stop using this service. 🤷
It's unbelievable just how many dark patterns I came across on MuseScore, like holy cow. Is MuseScore this bad???
I'm going to debate if I should still use this website because whoever runs this website seems rather scummy. :/

Lilypond question:
Lilypond is much nicer to engrave in than Dorico/MuseScore, but the latter two are much nicer for composing (e.g., when I need to quickly insert/re-order things), at least with my current Lilypond knowledge.
Does anyone have suggestions on inserting/re-ordering material in Lilypond, or should I just do Dorico -> MusicXML -> musicxml2ly?

Some progress in my work :) Sorry for the bad sound quality due to the record with OBS. I could also just put a better audio, just say me if the video is useless... (I find it a little interesting but maybe it isn't.) #gamedev #noai #composer #lmms #musescore
The fake celli you hear are musescore basic sounds, I intend to record them when the composing is over.
I'm so happy that I could find a little time to compose 💙
