The new video export feature on the updated Musescore Studio works great! I've posted this 5-day Composer Challenge piece some time ago but now I don't have to do any extra steps to create a decent video.

As someone who is barely used to use #MuseScore, #lilypond is a completely different, confusing beast…
Why are the default distances so small, glueing everything together?
What's a score? What's an instrument? What do all these curly braces mean? How much time will I have to spend to read the docs to understand all this?

Currently on a test phase for migrating to #Linux. Looks good so far, but I'm still struggling with my need for #music #notation #software. #MuseScore runs just fine, but MuseHub is not available for Linux. Instead only a limited version is provided which just lets you install the free (okayish) Muse sound fonts (not the really good ones I happened to buy a few months back on Windows). Since MuseScore also doesn't support VST3 plugins, this is a real bummer. #FOSS #opensource (1/2)

musescore is also a notation program. I used it in one of my projects because finale wouldn't allow the varying bar lengths my composition required.

The cool thing about the musescore notation software is that you can write text files that musescore converts to notation meaning that you can write programs that write text files that musescore can convert to notation.

Looking for a great #music #partition #editor for my needs:
- #guitar with both partition and #tablature
- #drums also

I have spent a lot of time with lilypond/frescobaldi (I prefer the idea of 'coding' the partition) but I struggle to get what I want, it's so frustrating.
I just tried musescore and I already gave up (because moving a note from one string to another, inserting a note between others… are a pain in the a**)
Not sure what I will enjoying using.

I found this file I had stored in my cloud since forever after trying to compose a #Ragtime #Piano song with #Musescore, so I might as well share it here.

Its name is "Bunny rag", my first ragtime song made after watching a couple YouTube videos.

An orchestral song I have just composed: «Four murders». It's written for oboes, bassoon, horns, piano, solo cello, and cellos & double basses sections.

I'm appreciating the free wifi on this aircraft, as well as the fact that I'm kinda mashed into my seat and still able to work without contorting my body. Wollte privat mal in den #Notensatz reinschnuppern. Grafischer Editor oder #Lilypond? Bin dann erst etwas davor zurückgeschreckt, jetzt langwierig eine neue Syntax zu lernen, und habe #MuseScore installiert. Auf den ersten Blick sehr schick. Dann hatte ich aber doch die ganze Zeit das Handbuch mit den Tastaturshortcuts offen, und irgendwann hat das Programm unwiederbringlich einen Achteltakt verschluckt. Am Ende also doch lieber #Plaintext, #Frescobaldi installiert, happy.

@dom @_DigitalWriter_ @thweyrich Es gibt ja auch so "Spezial"-Distributionen z.B. auch für Musikproduktion usw. Da ist dann einiges an Software für die jeweiligen Zwecke schon vorinstalliert.

@jonpalmisc Yesterday night I used it, from my Mac with all my usual instruments, to render an orchestral song importing a #MusicXML file exported from #Musescore. ~1 hour later I had a very good looking song (using BBC orchestra instruments) and today I realised that I can use the Windows version running it with Wine, with the same instruments, in my Linux box. So, thank you very much for recommending me #Reaper.

Does anybody of you know an easy way to double the length of the notes of a whole section/ several bars at once (i.e. two bars of sixteenth notes are transformed into four bars of eighth notes)?

I found it out. It“s surprisingly easy as there is a „paste double duration“ option integrated in the Edit menu or ctrl+shift+w.
