Its worrying that the right-wingers are targeting the #ChurchofEngland with their attempts at US-inspired "muscular Christianity" (rather than flocking towards newer US-inspired Protestant denominations which I had expected them to do), and it also appears they are going more for #patriarchy and #desecularisation (hoping the Church can take a larger role in society again?) than overt #racism (as many priests/vicars of the #CofE nowadays are black / brown !)

it appears they are hoping to force the CofE back to the "Low Church" ethos it had back in the 1970s and spark off a "soft crusade" in the UK, pushing back against what they perceive to be rise of #Islam

I see the Nigerian Anglican Church has rejected the appointment of the Archbishop of Canterbury. This is predictable from a particularly difficult part of the Anglican Communion.

The Communion in it's current form makes little sense in the 21st Century and this proves why.

We really do have to do something about this horrendously troubling legacy of Empire.
