The end of phase one

Today finds me pulling into a rest area to stretch my legs and let the mind relax for a minute. I have completed phase one by having the ten songs I want for my vinyl and the bonus of having enough for the radio dials on my site. I have decided to leave Suno after the new updates and not because they put limits on the downloads but rather that my personas quit, leaving only instrumentals. I don’t see a way to prompt the style anymore and the support is all AI answers instead of humans, which to me are the two main reasons of paying for the subscription. I have enjoyed Suno Pro and am grateful to them for the experience.

Phase two has started modestly as I try to train my vocals and stay somewhat in tune. I didn’t add sound to the video for this reason. I have been taping my singing and the results are simple, rewind and erase, try again. I think I need to take a break for a bit before diving deep into this level of the journey. I will be posting less on this subject since I don’t think there will be much to talk about for a while.

LSU BLOWS OUT CLEMSON! MICHIGAN STEALS A WIN!!

I enjoyed the first full Saturday of college football yesterday even though I fell asleep during the last game, which was a total blow-out. Can you say “Goodbye Dabo?

Alabama looked better than last year and might be a surprise come playoff time, only time will tell. Keelon Russell showed us why he was chosen to be the starting quarterback. I think we have some work to do to tighten up as a whole but I liked seeing the ball ran and knowing three running backs are on the injured reserve list has me feeling good about that section. “Cadillac” Ryan Williams needs to tighten up on his receiving abilities this year. He broke out in 24 but since then has ‘dropped the ball’ to many times. A great runner that can write his own ticket if he puts the gloves back on. All in all I am looking forward to another fun year.

A quick note: Oregon looked kinda rough at the beginning but did grab the win. And Michigan? I believe time ran out on the clock and they were handed a false win.

Side Stepping Challenges

My maintenance on this site has been an ongoing thing since it started but has left me dissatisfied and constantly wanting to improve it. I made some minor changes last night to the navigation bar adding a couple of previous categories back into the fold, NTT and Peaceful Challenges, also moving my ‘Who’s Dat’ page to it from the sidebar.

I will be going through my previous posts and trying to find the photos I used that have disappeared or at the least replacing them. I also want to figure out how to delete the many doubles, triples of images used and get them down to one picture used many times instead of many times adding a duplicate. This looks like a major challenge in itself. Please be patient.

I sold my first copy of ‘Silent Screams’, the invoice dropping in my email box today! Thank you to whoever it was, this was truly appreciated. The book was out in April of last year but I did absolutely no marketing on it.

Pioneer Paws and Play

My four word Sunday.

The coffee has me tuned in so hopefully this is going to be a productive day at the Dawghouse Barking Studio. I spent the morning getting things set up and ready to lay some tracks down. Now I’m waiting on my son to show up and monitor the dials while I howl and bark into the system. [10:30 am]

[3:00 pm]

So Derek showed up and I showed him how to operate the recording equipment through the DAW and the Pioneer rtr. It took awhile but then we spent around 45 minutes dialing in the vocals and music levels separately. Once the line input was set we then fine tuned the mic levels and I attempted my first recording. It sounded like shit let me tell ya {cuz}. I was missing my marks, out of key and forgetting lines and more, a real disaster for sure, but to me it was a valuable experience!

After three runs we took a break for about ten minutes while Derek adjusted some fine tuning then got back into it, I had to adjust my distance from the mic [to close], [to far], kinda like Little Red Riding Hood finding the perfect bowl of porridge. Finding the right distance I then laid a mark on the floor and tried again.

We practiced the song until around 2:30 or so then called it quits for the day. After putting everything away we listened to the tape. Derek was monitoring this all the way and had starred two copies he wanted to hear through speakers instead of headphones.

We discussed the mistakes from both sides and what we can do moving forward but he pointed out how my vocals had changed between the first and last tries. I became more comfortable as I went along and it shows. Although I will never be a musician, I believe I might have a chance of not sounding like a sad hound howling or a drunken karaoke singer when I’m done.

Some dreams take us down dark tunnels where we suddenly sit up screaming and drenched in sweat like we just stepped out of an oven.

Brain Farts

How quick can positivity turn to shit?

Where am I going? I have no damn clue. When I think I have a plan and it is rolling smoothly along I have a brain fart and watch as it twirls out of control. Is this me subconsciously sabotaging myself? If so why?

So I get to explore what being a different animal would be like and how it could expand my views on life. I dare say that there are many animals I might choose from, a sloth who moves so slow the week would be over before it started. Na, not feeling a slow groove today.

A ant? maybe. It seems this would be a good fit for someone like me that thrives on the rush of caffeine, as an ants life seems to be focused on exigency to explore everything as quickly as possible.

If I still liked to get intoxicated then being a deer would be my go to choice for this. Eating fermented apples at leisure, having humans scatter corn around, as long as the week was outside of hunting season.

Any of these could be fun and I didn’t even talk about those gorgeous creatures ‘the Penguins’ which I adore. Flying underwater, mating for life, yeah, they’re pretty cool but as you might guess, a dawgs life would have to be my go to choice as I hold them dear to my heart. Bark Bark…

April has been a long month in the Dawghouse. Today this axiom will bring that to an end for either good or bad, I just have to wait and see. It started out with having to junk my car as the hybrid battery died and the cost to replace it exceeded the value of the car by more than triple. I then had to deal with SSA wanting to reduced my retirement check to below poverty levels leaving me wondering how to survive in this growing recession.

I’ve learned that over the course of this month I have lost the desire and imagination needed to capture the normal fun and wittiness I use for the challenges and making my music. {Conceited, probably}. I find myself in a funk as I await the true spring weather to stabilize and finally be done with the winter blues.

Okay, that was a rant from a blue tick hound. Enough of that.

Maybe I should have enjoyed a wake and bake this morning to see if it improved my attitude. Let’s find out shall we?

A DAW is much harder to learn than I anticipated but will be worth it in the end. I also learnt the axiom that patience is a virtue is something to believe in.

These feeling of despair will pass and sunny thoughts will come around again just as spring will eventually replace these chilly days sooner or later. My writing usually captures how I feel or what kind of mood I’m in at the time. The wake and bake puts me on a cloud of peacefulness while the coffee still ignites the afterburners releasing new ideas. Today, April 30th I learned that over the years my dreams weren’t always as detailed as they should be nor always for the right reasons but I continue to dream the dream.

Sunday, Suno & Siri

I’m enjoying a relaxing Sunday today and hope you are too.

I started the morning out by cruising through reader. I didn’t feel up to a post so I turned the laptop off and turned the stereo up. I listened to the following three albums while tidying up the dawghouse.

I then checked my email and came back here and looked at your comments and to reply before heading to my DAW to make mistakes and learn. That didn’t happen.

After reading Siri’s comment on ‘Gotta Start Somewhere’ and seeing she subscribed to the other site I have parked waiting on the meter to run out on it I went into poetry mode and ended up in Suno.
