The Blues Box, 1966 on Verve Folkways.
3xLP box set featuring Lightnin' Hopkins, Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee, and Jimmy Witherspoon. On a couple of sides Hopkins plays with Terry & McGhee. The recordings were all made in Los Angeles - the first two LPs are taken from the Ash Grove on July 6th and 7th, 1960, and the third LP says it was recorded in LA in September 1959. Lee Hazlewood, 400 Miles From L.A. 1955-56, 2019 on Light in the Attic
Recorded in 1955 and 1956 but not released until 2019 by Light in the Attic, the second LP here includes a draft of what became Trouble is a Lonesome Town, Hazlewood’s debut album from 1963.
Most know Hazlewood from his Nancy Sinatra collaborations which came from the mid-sixties, so interesting to get these earlier recordings.
My copy—via Flip Over Records in Acton MA—is the 2019 limited edition pressing on gold vinyl, pressed at RTI with lacquer cut at Golden Mastering.

I walked with more than 200 people from Acton to Concord MA yesterday, with 8 armed minutemen at the front. They are preparing to fire off the old North Bridge, remembering the day when three folks from Acton died fighting for freedom from a King. No kings then, no kings now.
