Block Club Chicago: Blue Island Data Center Planners Get Booed By Residents. “Blue Island residents said they were concerned about potential noise coming from the center as well as water and electricity usage, and how the center could affect housing in the city. One resident, a recent college graduate, told the council that while studying she took courses focused on the ethics and societal […]

New York Times: From Indiana to Idaho, a Backlash Against A.I. Gathers Momentum. This link goes to a gift article. “Many of these A.I. critics say they are far from being Luddites just having a bad reaction to new, scary technology. They believe that people in Washington, especially President Trump, are protecting Silicon Valley rather than reeling it in. They want regulation — or at least a […]

I'm blessed because there is a good sized community garden plot nearby. Unfortunately, it's been abandoned. I think it's time to revive the site because there's a REAL NEED for food in our area. I have friends who volunteer for the local food pantry, and there's a real need for locally-grown food -- even in a a rural area! It needs to get to the right folks in time. There's so much waste -- both land-wise and food-wise! That needs to change! #LocalActivism #GrowLocal #FoodBanks #NoWaste #Compost #Sustainability #CommunityGardens

#LocalActivism does work! A couple of years ago, #PolandSpring tried to double their extraction in my town during a time of #SevereDrought in #Maine. Myself and my neighbors fought back -- with maps of the aquifers showing how everything was connected -- and how #BigWater tried to alter the maps to reflect their interests! Always keep in mind -- the more a corporation *sponsors* local causes, the more they have to be accountable for. It's usually #GuiltMoney designed to skew the public in their favor!
