  1. Had a horrible headache yesterday; apparently that was the harbinger of a possible cold.

Today I'm feeling like I'm fighting off a cold, but not quite sick yet. You know the feeling when you're on the cusp of being sick and it could go either way? That.

Hopefully it goes the good way, and I'll feel more human tomorrow.

  2. The town of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, was once haunted by a 'Mothman' - a flying, red-eyed humanoid. Seen as an angel of death or harbinger of doom, Mothman was blamed for a bridge collapse, in which 46 people died. His lair was said to be a sprawling, abandoned TNT plant, filled with crumbling bunkers, the remains of laboratories and power stations, and tunnels honeycombing a hillside. Explanations ranged from large birds and Native American curses to extra-terrestrials and inter-dimensional beings. 3. "This week, Character.AI declared bankruptcy. While some saw the fall of a chatbot platform as a harbinger for the industry, court filings indicate that the decision was actually a key part of a deal that has let Disney hire most of Character.AI’s staff—including its now former CEO Karandeep Anand—potentially acquire most of Character.AI’s technology, and avoid the beleaguered startup’s many legal liabilities and obligations."

  7. I susepct that this article includes too much "wishful thinking" statements... The fact that too much money was spent in the construction of data centers doesn't automatically that the AI bubble will burst tomorrow. The technology is really useful and is steadily improving, while more and more people around the world is using it.

"Trillions of dollars in borrowed money have powered the A.I. boom. But now there is growing uncertainty around just how easily more money can be obtained — and how much of it will be paid back.

Those questions burst into the forefront this week when investors rapidly lost confidence in one debt-laden data center company, CoreWeave. Prices of its bonds — the company has accrued $72 billion in liabilities to operate 51 data centers — crashed, and investors placed a more than 60 percent likelihood CoreWeave would fail to meet its obligations.

Investors have sold off bonds for other A.I. giants as well, including Larry Ellison’s company, Oracle, though the price declines are not as steep as CoreWeave’s.

At the same time, Wall Street investors have been bidding up the price of some complicated financial instruments that insure corporate debt against default, such as those insuring SoftBank, the Japanese technology colossus that has borrowed heavily to bet its future on a partnership with OpenAI.

The recent market moves could spell losses for investors that own the companies’ existing bonds and could mean the companies will be forced to pay higher interest rates when they borrow again, raising the costs of their already wildly expensive A.I. projects.

The broader question is whether companies facing debt trouble like CoreWeave, Oracle and SoftBank are the industry’s weak links or are harbingers of deeper problems in the A.I. build-out."
