  4. CW: Today... 2026 March 26... Blog post, outside, food(?), I don't know

It's late (well not as late as usual, but late enough for my tastes to call it late), and I want some sleeps. Not that I'll get any reasonable sleeps.

I published a blog post, that I wrote about 4 days ago. About my reading of
Codependent No More. I've been thinking of a next post, but I haven't written it yet. Though... It wouldn't be that difficult. Part of why I didn't write it, is because I had this which I hadn't published.

I spent a bit of time on the deck. It was unpleasant. Well, it started out nice enough, I thought it would work out, but when I came in it was distinctly unpleasant.

Food got eaten today. Birds got their water, but I haven't given them food, and I've not got peanuts for them since we got them.

Oh, laundry, I brought it up, folded it, and put it away.

My spoons... Right low. Anyone got any to spare?
    #SpoonTheory

Anyway, thank you everyone. I'm off to bed. Take care.

  5. CW: Today 2025 November 14 It is time...

Internet is sluggish (qbittorrent has started unrestricted access to the internet, not throttled). It is time...

I can't say what is up. Lee Valley order notice was left yesterday (I missed that it had been left, it might have been able to be picked up today). Or even yesterday, as it
claims the notice was left at 8 am.

I ended up groggy today. Not surprising. Sauna yesterday, and I ended up going to bed way too late.

I didn't really have much going on today. Got food, went out in the rain to water the birds. Apparently Fred Astaire is living in our neighbourhood, someone was singing in the rain.

I think that's about it. I got that one little thing with the music notation/music engraving that I managed to sort out today, due to the
    #Lilypond IRC channel.

It really helps to know music information like what a grace note is, and all sorts of things like that. I still don't know, but at least I'm pretty sure that what I was looking at wasn't a grace note.

It's hard to know, unless I could get some access to the audio recording it's based on. Which I
might be able to if I knew where and how to search.

Anyway, I should head to bed I guess.

  6. I don't think I mentioned that we got wood yesterday. I think I did. It is very wet. I'm hoping I'm just being paranoid about it being so wet, but there's some sign that it's stuff I wouldn't want in a use that I'm relying on it staying strong in a hidden location. We have a tester, but I'm not sure how good it is. The wood which is clearly drier than it was when we got it, is at 30% or there abouts. Not happy with that, as I'd like to not have to re-season wood that has been kiln dried. I'm hoping the fact it's been kiln dried, means it'll dry fairly quickly. #woodworking #lumber

  7. CW: Today... 2026 March 31 ... Woodworking (sort of), food, dishes, I don't know... 1/?

Last night (or early early this morning more accurately) I decided that I couldn't face the dishes, and needed sleep more than I needed to sort the dishes out. I really think this was a good decision, as there was a high probability that if I had not gone to bed, but tried to do my usual night time stuff, while I was trying to get to bed, someone would have come and bothered me, so yeah, probably a good decision.

That said, still not dealt with those dishes, in part because getting stuff like that done during the day ends up being difficult. I start doing stuff, and a good percentage of the time, someone comes and distracts me, so that happened today. I did get
some of them done. And I managed to not make too many new ones, as I just said, "ah toast it..." to food today...

Yeah, today was pretty much not dealing with food (for the humans at least, really spoiled creatures if you ask me). I was tired, dishes weren't available to get out of the dishwasher (not my ideal situation to be pulling stuff out of the dishwasher, but better than deciding that I need something that I end up washing by hand). So had toast, and various other very easy things, that made minimal dishes.

My pain was high (like dangerously high to be honest), and I was pretty tired. I did manage to get a bit of time to lie down.

Today I did a bit of stuff trying to do some "progress towards doing
#woodworking " trying to get this shave horse closer to feeling confident just starting to pull some stuff together.

I wrote up some stuff in
#TeX last night, just getting some of my thoughts down, and basically that. I did some stuff in #FreeCAD today (and last night) trying to get a drawing together to see what things look like (to go with the writing, which likely will be abandoned, as I'll just do the thing).

Today, I grabbed an old rusty, handles falling off draw knife, and started to clean it up. In terms of total progress on it, I'd say it's not a lot, but the step from being something I'm not even sure I want to put any time into, to now looking at it a little bit cleaned up, and finding that even as rusty as it is, it still has an edge, it's something I do want to put effort into.

Another thing I have been wanting to start my summer (well spring) brewing, and started to get a ginger bug together. Unfortunately the previous bug had gone all acetone smelling, and it wasn't really worth the effort to see if I could bring it back, largely because it wasn't enough to do much with anyway.

So, there's a fresh bug growing. I think I've had it go from nothing to working actively in about a week.

I have a jar of kombucha, and of apple/pear cider starter. The kombucha I started from nothing but ginger bug, and active vinegar (apple cider, and rice). It took about 4 batches before I was "about to give up" only to find that we had something working quite well.

I hope to be getting some of that in use. Certainly if it ends up being no good, that's fine too

12. CW: Yesterday...

Yeah... I didn't do my update ... I was "busy" which is actually true. Mostly I was busy when I was usually doing the updates...

I went downtown and took most of my books back. I forgot one. I realised when I was at a point that if I turned around, I wasn't getting downtown at all. So I continued and figure I'll sort that out some other time...

I got some THC, the paper, some stuff from the pharmacy (drug store)... And groceries, didn't grab any books because I was already loaded down enough to not want to have anything more...

My light (overhead) finally went "all out". But it didn't actually, it went to like 1/10 brightness with a problem that when the power gets cut, it stays lit, but gets brighter briefly...

    I also got results for
#Archivedon, we'll be watching #1929 #ThePhantomOfTheOpera I have published the two versions (they are slightly different lengths, and different prints):

    https://video.jigmedatse.com/c/archivedon/videos

I'll do a better post about that shortly... Tuesday ...

The thing that was late in the day, was bottling the rhubarb ginger soda. It'll be ready probably in 3-7 days. It's probably "fine" now. It was bubbling like mad, so it's almost certainly more than effervescent enough.

  17. CW: Today...

Yesterday? Maybe Saturday? Maybe a bit before that, I decided to check to see if I could get #MapTool (I think I said MapTools before ...) to properly launch from my server. I was making a bit of progress, but it just wasn't really working, and I wasn't totally sure if it was just taking a really long time, or if it was not going to move forward with what it was doing.

I decided to take a look at it today, it's really clunky to run through the ssh pipe, but I have figured that I can do that and the important thing is to use it for authorising players ... it's clunky, but for that it's not clunky enough to be more than minorly annoying, and either it would be a "one time" thing, or each session (or restarting of a session).

I was playing with stuff, and it's a nice system, it's not easy to get the basics setup (but I've yet to find something that is, unless you're playing one of their supported TTRPG systems, which I would say, "often I'm not"), and if it's working, I'd say, "hey great."

For whatever reason (and this seems to be not a really rare thing as it's happened multiple times today) it will segfault on start on my local machine, quite frequently (this is a French car company .... of a computer, I believe that it was featured (oops my bad, it's just close to that name I think it is Citroën is not citronnier), but I had spent way too long on it, and would have to tear it down, and clear it up, and the company I got it from, seemed to be, "Most of the time, the customer is wrong.")

Anyway... So I got it working sort of. But it was pretty much hanging running entirely locally. Which honestly not happy with. And there's some real frustrating things that I've run into which I feel would have been fine if this was version 0.15 not 1.15 ... the ability to spend half an hour trying to set something up, accidentally hit the wrong key, and go, "OK where's that..." and find that it's probably gone.

I easily could be wrong about that, but I don't have the patience to play with it much more right now. I was already having enough trouble with fighting with Inkscape, which it's mostly not a matter of, "I just lost a bunch of work" unless I do something "really stupid" (like shut down my computer in the middle of doing something).

Sorry, nasty rant. I'll not likely look at any of the online/commercial VTTs, if I can't find something that I can run myself, then I'll just stick to physical media. Which is what I've been doing anyway.

As for other stuff... Today was a typically weird day. I managed to feed and water the birds. Was thinking about that as it was getting dark, and ended up bringing it in already. So... I don't know. That's really about it. Quite the rant. Frustrated and impatient. I'll figure something out.

  18. CW: Follower Welcome...

Welcome @[email protected] you seem to have an #Accessibility focus, and I think largely #blind, #visuallyImpaired. Feel free to let me know if I missed something, or am putting things that aren't right.

I'm wondering if you've been around long enough to have noticed a change to the alt tags on mastodon. I've noticed that as a sighted person who
does use them, on one instance they've become basically useless.

  19. Well, that looks like #EndCredits for tonight's #Monsterdon. I don't know. It was pretty bad... I think #TheRaven was the best character... Oh well. I'm not sure how you make a 90 minute film out of a 7 minute poem... Well, very poorly...

  20. I don't think I've done an #Introduction here yet. Why? Largely because I didn't really think about it, but also because I really hate doing these sorts of thing. But hey, it's a good thing to do.

    I moved over from
@[email protected] as I was really frustrated with Mastodon, and more so that certain things with Mastodon are pretty hard to change (and not to my needs). I could have hosted my own instance, but I'd tried that, and ended up with it just not working out.

I run my main computers on
#Linux, but I do "maintain" a couple of iPads, as it's nice to have something of the sort. I run various "net" stuff most of it various #Fediverse stuff (I'm not running my #Mastodon instance, I have #MastoHost for that). I've built a bunch of tools for myself, and most of them I have something about it over on my #Forgejo instance https://code.jigmedatse.com/

I try to run a weekly watch party on Tuesdays, watching Internet Archive films (mind you some of the stuff in my collection has come from other sources, it
may happen that I have stuff that's not actually there occasionally).

I have chronic pain, and am autistic. Many days are just really rough. I post a daily "update" at the end of the day. Largely as a way to just say those things. Sometimes it's close to what the Mastodon limit was (500 characters), but most of the time it's over 1000, sometimes over 3000... I think once or twice it was over 6000.

The poll size was another thing with Mastodon that was a "practical reason" to move. I only had 4 options maximum there, and here (out of the box with Misskey/Sharkey) I have 10 options. I'm totally self hosting, so if I decide to change those limits... I can.

I guess that's about it. Maybe some people have things that I missed...

  21. CW: *grumble*

My, Owncast notification isn't showing https://muru.miyaku.media as online. There, readded and it's showing up. #Monsterdon #PreShow.

  22. #monsterdondoublefeature Well, the first #sonofdracula1943 was good, but #SunOfDracula1974 is very much... "What was that I was just watching..." Perhaps If I watched better... Oh, this sounds strangely like closing credits music... Phew...

  23. CW: Today... 2026 March 17 ... Food... Groceries... Attempt to rest...

Well, um yeah that rest thing. How does one do it? I got up early, as I wasn't sleeping. As I was trying to find a bit of just trying to get my "tea" (basically hot water most days) at least started before people tried to interact, I don't think I even had the kettle on and was dealing with other folk.

That said, I got food in the morning, I got some water out to the birbs. It was warm today (I didn't really notice, as I wasn't out other than briefly, and it was warm enough, but it got a good deal warmer).

Snow's been melting, but I'm not sure how much. It's probably down to about 1/4 what we got overnight the other night in the places that it's still hanging about.

I did just kind of crash on my bed after a bit. It was worth it, though very strange just like not properly in bed... Just flopped on the bed, which wasn't really in a state to be flopped on.

Did have a sauna today. That was good.

Groceries were got. I don't really remember what was got. It was fair, but kind of annoying putting stuff around when mum's saying "we don't want that..." and it's like. "who's this we who doesn't do any (or more than about once a week) of the cooking?"

I know, I'm kind of grumpy, but maybe I have a right to be? Do we have spinach? I wonder... That might be something to look into, see if I can make some sort of spinach thing with the filo (not sure if it's
#spanakopita #σπανακόπιτα, but sort of). I don't know how to enter Greek. At least not easily.

Managed food today. Decently. Loads of dishes to deal with. I probably don't have enough room in the dishwasher for the dishes, and that's OK.

That's kind of it for the day. I think.

    Thank you everyone. Take care.

  24. CW: Today... 2026 January 29 ... Food ... birbs ... laundry ... illness? ... phone

OK, let's sort of start with those last things... Got a call from the person who was supposed to drive to the grocery store today, and she sounded terrible. Told her to take a break, and she can come in a week (that's pushing it in my mind, but let's do that...).

Lots of phone calls, talked to a scammer. Ended up being not nice. Why do they keep calling? I don't like dealing with the phone. I kind of hate dealing with the phone. But in a lot of ways, it's probably better than some of the other ways.

I got laundry up, folded, and put away.

Fed and watered the birds. At 1°C there was a bird out there having a really swell bath. I don't really get it. There was ice in the bath, it wasn't warm out. Water must have been very close to zero.

Managed decent food. Not having the help come to get to groceries was sort of good about that. It made the day less full.

I think the food was decent.

I migrated to a new journal today. I guess that is a bit of an accomplishment. I need to get new journals printed. I have a very old journal, and that's it.

Printed you say? Yeah, I print them. Mainly (but not entirely) to not have to number pages. Also, I'd probably be binding journals anyway, so why not print them.

    I've been thinking about
    #Zine #Libraries. Or #ZineLibraries? I don't know. I don't think that there's any around here. I kind of want to fix that.
