CW: Today... 2026 March 10 ... Archivedon... Computers... Humans... 1/?
Yeah, let's go with that last one. This morning I was just not feeling up to dealing with humans. The caretaker showed up to get groceries, I hid. I was genuinely tired, and it's not really my thing to deal with that. At least there's no reason it should be, and I don't get why anyone would make a point of ensuring I do deal with stuff that isn't really mine to deal with.
I get the desire to ensure that things aren't "wrong" or whatever... I just don't see how dealing with people who stress me out is ever any way to make sure things are going fine... It feels like a great way to make sure things are going poorly.
Yes, I have tried to communicate this. I really would like this sort of thing be handled with, "hey you want a ride to do this, sure no problem..." Not even saying that it should be just that it happens. People (unfortunately) have to be paid. Don't have a problem (well beyond the whole it's a stupid state of affairs), with that, or other stuff.
I just have a problem with the people who ask questions like, "how are you?" and then when you answer honestly, tucking that away to weaponize later... Or those who ask, "what would you like in this situation" when the situation involves like a dozen different variables, and they are "in a hurry"...
I also "had" to deal with the doctor. Not my doctor. Not really "anyone's" doctor. Was from the hospital... And since it's very clear that they have zero interest in responding to, "I can't respond to your question because it's defined in vague ways, and I just can't process it," in a way that allows for more effective communication, but rather, "sure fine..."
Why are you talking to me, if you will ask me questions, and I'll say why I can't answer your question, and you just dismiss it. Are you making a claim that you are incapable of addressing the fact that you asked a question of, "what do you want to happen with your mum?" when there's like a dozen things involved... Many of which are out of my control. Many of which there's been promises which have fallen through, and simply not happened, with zero communication as to what would happen.
And please don't ask me what she wants. Especially since I've only talked to her, briefly on the phone. I only confirmed that I don't have reason to believe that her state of mind around what she wants has changed.
I'm not OK with sharing stuff that I know "is not working" when it's clear in my mind that the reason you're asking me, is so that you can justify your coercive communication... Dad's "good" with that, because he's not really even aware of what's going on.
To my knowledge, I don't have a legal duty to provide care against the wishes of my parents. If so... The health care system can fuck itself.
I went to watch the #Archivedon film, and I'm not really sure if it's going to be possible to do so on that computer... -
Watching here an hour (or more) behind. It looks like about 62 minutes behind.
I'm about 14 minutes in, and it's not going terribly well. Anyone got any #Archivedon feedback?
Oh... There's a Thing showing up now... -
Just went to watch the #Archivedon film. Even locally it's not playing. I do have audio (that took close to an hour (45 minutes) to figure out, and not the way I want it). I'm starting an hour late not sure if anyone has said anything or is watching. If I missed something sorry. Thanks everyone.

CW: Today... 2026 March 9 ... Weather? Archivedon...
Yesterday was the warmest we'd seen for months (as far as I can tell), and this morning woke up to fresh snow. Weird weather I guess. It feels weird, though it's "Spring in the Kootenays" and this is somewhat normal that it be weird like this (very much like this, where it seems very much warm, spring and everything, then snow).
Tomorrow is #Archivedon at 19:00 PDT (GMT-7?)... I have the film up at:
https://video2.jigmedatse.com/w/rifHHdHZjUX9mj9Pgh78ad
I think. There's another version which has the same timecode listed, but it's ~1/60th the length. No idea why it may have done that, but when I was looking at it earlier, it appeared to be the full film, but it's just not there.
It appears the file (original) claims that length, but it is wrong.
Please join us tomorrow night to watch this. I think that we should be good to go.
Searching for it, gives me:
https://archive.org/search?query=The+Thing+From+Another+World+1951&page=2&and%5B%5D=mediatype%3A%22movies%22
which the actual films, are way down at the bottom, but it's only 96 or so films shown there.
I'm going to try to get some sleep... May be lucky, set things up downstairs, and enjoy a nice nap while #Archivedon is happening.
Tomorrow for Archivedon is Tuesday March 10... Which is actually today. -
For Tuesday March 10th, we will be watching The Thing From Another World. 1951... I think that I'll leave it at that for now. #Archivedon #ArchivedonAnnounce

CW: PeerTube... Why didn't I know this already?
I was posting a video to my PeerTube instance. Transcoding failed. I think there may be a way to roll back
ffmpegto a version that "works" with this version, but I would rather work on getting PeerTube up and running with the current version.
We're months out of date, and the last time I updated, I didn't check that video publishing worked. Well, it doesn't. :( Well, it didn't when I tried to upload after previous update.
I think it's working now:
https://video.jigmedatse.com/w/vhjLG96rkyQTfaukojsPGG
New video... From this perspective it appears that it is working... Well that was an unexpected reason to not relaunch the #Archivedon #WatchParty. I'm kind of glad to have found it with something more personal...
I still need to further update PeerTube, but I'm a step closer to where I want to be. Maybe, I'll get to 7.0 before the end of winter? -
CW: Working on things...
A few things I'm wanting to get done "today".
* blog post about medical consent
* New cover for journals
* Update around "journaling basics"
* Blog Post
* Journal Guide chapter
* Short bit at beginning of Journal
I also had planned on having #Archivedon started by my #Birthday on October 15th, but I think that's just not going to happen.
I don't know that any of this is going to happen. -
CW: Today... 2025 October 7th ... Food? Writing? I don't know
Well, I guess the main thing I managed, was finishing my laundry, getting it put away even. Shocking...
I had a sauna. Wasn't at all feeling like getting lunch, so did bare minimum, and made tea, cut bread. But I didn't get the bread I cut for lunch, I didn't have the energy to do so, but I had some tea, and after the others left, cut other bread, fried up some tomatoes, and put that on toast... With some cheese...
I wrote a blog post... Now Oh there it is... https://new.jigmedatse.com/blog/2025-10-07-vscodium-to-vim-migration-part-1/
I'm kind of thinking I'm not going to get #Archivedon relaunched by the 15th. I keep not doing anything to move in a real direction to it. I don't know.
I'm sort of making tiny baby steps, but nothing substantive.
Oh, I finished 3 books since my last update here. All of them sort of just came together. Like started about the same time, finished about the same time. I think. Now I need to figure what I'm reading next.
I didn't sleep at all well, kind of just fitful until after 5am. Probably close to 6am... Then got woken up and didn't manage to get back to bed.
Did spend a little time on the deck, and I think I got a little sleep out there. It's certainly not warm. I guess that's OK too. Want to get out when I can, it won't be long before it's like 10 minutes out and it's "just too much".
I think I should head to bed. Take care everyone. Thank you. -
Well, today got away from me... I've not got my local setup for tonight's #Archivedon yet (my computer it was on froze... Don't understand it's plenty warm around here not sure why it would have)... I'm back up on that machine, getting them to the "TV Machine".
The PeerTube version is:
https://video.jigmedatse.com/w/1NL2raQaHm6TG2r1TuKVp9
Hope you've not been bothered by my absence. -
We have results for the June, 10th #Archivedon #WatchParty at 19:00 PDT... 4 votes for Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) the others which got at least 1 vote, will be used to fill up the existing list (I think to July 8th I have at least some of my 8 options).
I've left it at 8, despite having the ability for 10 without any changes here... Just because.
I have started uploading to my Archivedon channel:
https://video.jigmedatse.com/c/archivedon
I'll get it there some time tomorrow, hopefully uploaded by the time I get back to the computer.
It's available on Internet Archive:
https://archive.org/search?query=invasion+of+the+body+snatchers+1956&and%5B%5D=mediatype%3A%22movies%22
There's some other films there as well. -
Today is #Archivedon, we'll be watching in an hour and a half (our schedule seems very strange, as I had no idea it was that close and I just got here).
Yesterday's Post:
Hey that works... It's appended as a quote... I think.
The Phantom of the Opera 1929... Quote should show up, let me know if there's any troubles with it on your instance.
RE: https://social.openpsychology.net/notes/a8jseh8ttx9u09a6 -
Tomorrow for #Archivedon #WatchParty we'll be watching The Phantom of the Opera from 1929.
I have it up on my PeerTube at:
https://video.jigmedatse.com/w/a5oVP9EVhSeTLVKwJXKoxb
and:
https://video.jigmedatse.com/w/529Xvg68dsu15XcivDdfJq
They are different lengths, and different prints (one is tinted). I've not looked into the differences.
OK, time difference seems to be the tinted version was 20fps and the black and white was 24fps or something like that. It originally was from 1925, re-released in 1929...
On Internet Archive:
https://archive.org/details/ThePhantomOfTheOpera_201612
https://archive.org/details/ThePhantomOfTheOpera1929
And others...
Please join us tomorrow (well today I guess) at 19:00 PDT. In about 18 hours. -
CW: Yesterday...
Yeah... I didn't do my update ... I was "busy" which is actually true. Mostly I was busy when I was usually doing the updates...
I went downtown and took most of my books back. I forgot one. I realised when I was at a point that if I turned around, I wasn't getting downtown at all. So I continued and figure I'll sort that out some other time...
I got some THC, the paper, some stuff from the pharmacy (drug store)... And groceries, didn't grab any books because I was already loaded down enough to not want to have anything more...
My light (overhead) finally went "all out". But it didn't actually, it went to like 1/10 brightness with a problem that when the power gets cut, it stays lit, but gets brighter briefly...
I also got results for #Archivedon, we'll be watching #1929 #ThePhantomOfTheOpera I have published the two versions (they are slightly different lengths, and different prints):
https://video.jigmedatse.com/c/archivedon/videos
I'll do a better post about that shortly... Tuesday ...
The thing that was late in the day, was bottling the rhubarb ginger soda. It'll be ready probably in 3-7 days. It's probably "fine" now. It was bubbling like mad, so it's almost certainly more than effervescent enough. -
CW: Today...
Not sure what "today" was... Did some stuff with the rhubarb-ginger soda. It's in the gallon jar. I think it might be a few days to 2 weeks before bottling.
My body was saying, "hey you had us out in the sun too much..."
I've no idea what today was to be honest. That's about it. I did have a sauna this evening. That's really about it.
Take care everyone. Thank you...
Oh... Vote for the #Archivedon film. I should boost that and write a note... -
CW: Today...
OK, well spent time on the deck. Was planning on going downtown to drop off my books (probably pick up new books). I didn't do that.
My pain was high, and it was nice on the deck. I did finish reading the book I was reading. It was very painful. The Knowing by Tanya Tagala (?)
Picked up the Kindle to read as I was going to take books back to the library, so ... didn't want to start a new library book.
I made some shrimp stuff with "rice stick". It ended up pretty bad. It tasted fair, but the shrimp weren't really that good. The sauce I made wasn't great. The rice stick ended up as a heavy mass of noodles...
It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't very good.
Ah, and I've done the updating of the #Archivedon lists... I'll post a new poll right after this.
Thank you everyone. Take care. -
CW: Reading... (I don't think these are spoilers)
Been reading The Case of the Missing Finger by @[email protected] ... I will say nothing but that I'm enjoying it. That may be spoilers to some, so CWing...
On another note... I'm off to do the "repopulating" my #Archivedon list for a future poll. Maybe even tonight. I think I'm going to go watch #Warrior tonight which is today's #EuroKino film. I started it to see whether I wanted to add it, but instead I just wanted to watch it. -
CW: Today... (and some bigger observations) 1/?
I didn't do much, I was getting ready to figure something out to eat around noon, and figured that would be good, and dad was going to go downtown at that time, so I decided to wait until he got back, because it wasn't like I needed to eat, "right then".
He's been having to arrange rides, and isn't really wanting to do a walk downtown to do a quick trip, or figure out what would be good to do that with.
I get it, it's easy when things go poorly to decide to give up on them, or whatever. A few weeks ago was the last time I did the #Archivedon watch party, and I've not managed to get back to running a poll, or even just saying, "I've decided to watch this, this week." I've done a bit in the background but it's not happened...
I wish I was better at running that, and keeping things up with it. I feel even if there wasn't stuff that I am having throw me for a real loop pretty much every day going on, or even just that when I got out of that situation (like if I was going to work or school, and that was that sort of stress most of the time) I'd still be having trouble.
The things that are messing things up for me are right here at home, and I don't have a place I'm getting away from that (well some days I'm managing time out in the yard that helps a great deal). It's not... That it's terrible, but more that it's not good, and it's become all the same not good most of the time. Rarely a genuine bit of relief from it, and most of the change seems to make stuff harder to deal with.
I had been meeting with a friend to try to do some gaming, but that ended in early December. That while it was stressful and took a lot out of me, ended up being enjoyable and overall moving stuff to being able to do stuff.
The last... few months (I feel it's been something like 3 months) there's been a distinct sense that things are falling apart more and more in the household. I'm trying to keep myself together, but since Tazzy died, a lot of little things that might have been helping keep things together have gone away.
We've been, "getting help" in terms of getting services or whatever... But really they don't end up being helpful, but disruptive. The stuff we need assistance with to make it better for the house just seems to be either entirely not available, or our (at least in the past) fairly extensive looking for solutions, has failed to find that there are solutions (not even poor ones).
For example, it would be useful for us (though not critical) to have someone come clean our heating and ventilation ducts. We looked around for quite some time to see if anyone had any lead on someone who could do that.
What we found, was we could get on a list, but the next person on the list would only get someone to come, when stuff like installation and repair wasn't happening, which... Even those jobs were like months long waiting lists.
We've at least had someone with a Hindi (?) accent call to talk about that, but they keep hanging up. -
That's this week's #Archivedon done and dusted... And... The clip I saw that I hadn't seen... Well I think I have now. Thank you for sharing that, and um... Which of you was it?
-
CW: Today...
We had tonight's #Archivedon #WatchParty. Not really sure, it may be the first time I've watched that without falling asleep (no it's not that the film is easy to fall asleep to, I just often fall asleep to many of these films, because I'm always so tired).
It still is a good film, after multiple watchings. Well, good as in, I enjoy it.
I managed to wash the table that I have outside largely for tea (though sometimes it ends up being a table if having fancy more than can fit on the main table for the serving dishes). I hope to apply oil to it tomorrow.
Again... I can't drive, and a lot of the places I might want to go, I can't really walk to. I was talking about sorting out getting a chainsaw which would allow me to do work on the trees that the hand saws aren't going to ... well I guess they'll cut it, but they'll be a huge pain, because it's just so slow.
I went to get dressed, thinking that we'd head out to see if we can get something sorted... But um, it's not happened.
I'm not really thinking that I expected it to. Just it's frustrating ... And when I decide that I know nothing's getting done, it goes, "fine let's get it done right now..." and I go, "OK, give me 10 minutes..." and then right now really meant right now, not 10 minutes later, and I should be able to instantly be ready...
I know that I should figure something, "better" out for sorting this stuff out, but I have no idea. Not good public transit. I'm not sure I could get better range if I worked with getting better with being able to ride a bike (not really ridden in a very long time, so I'm not sure if that's viable). I also don't have access to the money to be able to pay for things.
I do think some of this could get resolved somewhat but I'm not sure how easily. Certainly not easily. I fully expect that sorting the, "not have access to money," thing will probably take weeks to sort out.
I did get enough done that I'm not like pissed off that I didn't get anything done, it's just still ends up frustrating.
I guess that's about it for today. Take care everyone. -
OK, #Archivedon #WatchParty for Tuesday (I guess that's still tomorrow) at 19:00 PDT.

Please join us. The PeerTube video is transcoding still. I think... -
TIE! Well, honestly this is good. Let's watch Battle Beyond the Stars on Tuesday, and then Supaidaman continue the following Tuesday. I'm OK with that. #Archivedon #WatchParty Tuesday 19:00 PDT. Thanks everyone...
-
I know I know, it's not even, "After #Archivedon" really. It's early really... I guess I could schedule this so it is when it "should be" but right now I want to get it up, and we don't have anything selected yet for tomorrow night...
I do need to refresh my list, as I'm getting to the point that I've not got 8 films for much longer.
https://code.jigmedatse.com/Archivedon/Archivedon
That's the link to what my "process" is (though not super clear), but in thearchivedirectory film lists of what I have full versions (or full enough) the films (as of the date of the file). It's listed as the file name.
Happy to add films to what I have available, and add films I have available to the poll.
Please vote, boost, and if you so desire, cheer on your choices...
You may select as many as you wish. Top one will be our next film (barring a tie) ones that get votes will remain on the list. -
CW: Today... 1/?
Ears are being a literal pain... I tried to get some of that cleared out last night, and didn't manage it, it was bad this morning, the audio effects were probably worse than the pain. The pain isn't too terrible, but it's uncomfortable, and I can't properly hear...
I've probably got, steps to take before I decide I need to try to figure out something else.
In my migration away from VSCodium... I have made progress. It's slow, but I think a big part of why it's slow, is because I'm out of practice from using vim. And I'm also doing stuff in vim that I never did before.
I've never tried to setup templates in vim in the past, because ... well I could type things reasonably well, and I didn't even really think about it. I could type what I wanted, but hey, I've gotten to, "why would I type it every time I create a new file and everything that is common can either just be put in automatically, or what's not entirely the same be part of a template."
So, it started with, "how do I create a template for the diary entries" which I found someone with a template, but I wasn't that happy with that. So I decided to modify it, so it would produce what I wanted at least from the command line...
That wasn't a huge problem (to that point (more on that later)). I got something I was happy with, and having found I can generate the list of entries in the diary... I also found it takes the H1 tag as the text it lists, so... I made that part of my template building...
Got over to creating some notes, and trying to figure that out, and "how do I handle tags" found a way to handle that, and I was happy enough with the solution as I understand it...
Then I tried it and I was in my home directory, and that's where it started looking. It was fast enough (that's not something that you want to do on my home directory), but I wanted to create something to search the vimwiki automatically...
So, I did a "local fork" (copied it over) to create a specific vimwiki version of it, which figured out the directory to search.
Mistakes were made, and it wasn't working, but it is now. I can now do <leader>t and search tags in my vimwiki (and it should work for others, unless they have multiple wikis and I'm not sure about Windows users).
That code needs to be cleaned up. But I'm pretty close to being willing to share that simplified code (it's probably simpler than the previous code).
Frustration with the colours, got me playing with that a bit, got something I can live with...
I don't think I did much more than "yak shaving" today. Getting my tools working. But honestly... If my tools aren't working... I won't do the work.
I think the next step is to start working with the journal project a bit. I know I've kind of flaked out on the #Archivedon stuff, and I'm being OK with that. I went to figure something out for that, and that's what got me into this rabbithole... -
That is this week's #Archivedon done and dusted.
For your uplifting finale:
https://archive.org/details/vd_is_for_everybody
Yep, you can get VD too. (honestly some of the sexually transmitted diseases are so common, it's highly unlikely you *don't* have it). -
OK, going down to watch Supaidaman. Join us in about 20 minutes for #Archivedon #WatchParty.
The Playlist is on my PeerTube:
https://video.jigmedatse.com/my-library/video-playlists/48ae7ce9-a9fd-4a96-b039-c2584f50a417
And as always, it's also available on Internet Archive.
https://archive.org/details/01ThunderingMachineGP7AnOathOfBrothers -
Spotted this on Helpful Pixels Discord.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gnR7MfJ9v0
This looks very interesting, it seems like a possible future #Monsterdon or #Archivedon. Though I doubt it hits the "old enough to be possible" for either. -
Tuesday's #Archivedon film will be Princess Mononoke. There's a variety of them over on Internet Archive:
https://archive.org/search?query=Mononoke&and%5B%5D=mediatype%3A%22movies%22
I'll be posting one soon on my PeerTube:
https://video.jigmedatse.com/c/archivedon
I spotted a "half hour episode series" which I need to do some research on, but it does seem to be the same story (at least largely).
Thank you everyone. Take care. 19:00 PDT (UTC-7) -
CW: Today...
There were lots of birds about this morning. Like, lots and lots of them. And it was cold and overcast. Seemed like a "boding of adverse weather." It didn't turn too terrible, but it did end up being snowing this afternoon.
Saw a junco at the bird bath. So it clearly is getting some use. I've not checked to see what the state of the food was, but we did have some finch activity, and they like the sunflower seeds, which haven't been going of late.
Tonight was #Archivedon. As usual I fell asleep some during it. I actually think I "like" that. I'm not a fan of having missed parts of the show (tonight Japanese Spiderman TV series from 1978). But it's good to take that time, and not worry if I do fall asleep.
Before too long it might be nice time to be on the deck. There's a fair amount of it free, and I've gone out for reading/sitting for a bit a few times. It's tending toward too cold of late, but I don't really expect that to last much longer.
Was looking at a place "in the big city" (about a 15 minute drive to a city about 3 times the size) to pick up some Persian food... Then I realised it's Ramadan, and they might be closed... Calls went unanswered so didn't make the effort to go.
That's kind of about it. Thank you everyone. Take care. -
That was tonight's #Archivedon. Interesting choice. I think it would be more watchable in 1-2 hour bits, if some of the highly repeated stuff got trimmed. I'll do a poll in a short bit. Please look out for it.
Thank you everyone. Take care. -
CW: Today...
Had crappy sandwiches for lunch. It was a nice change to have different crappy sandwiches.
Tomorrow is #Archivedon, which I think I may have said Pacific Standard Time... Well, dang time went and changed to Pacific Daylight Time... 19:00 We'll be watching the Japanese Spiderman/Supaidaman... It's available on Internet Archive:
https://archive.org/search?query=spiderman+japanese&and%5B%5D=mediatype%3A%22movies%22
and the whole series at:
https://archive.org/details/Supaidman
I have it at:
https://video.jigmedatse.com/my-library/video-playlists/48ae7ce9-a9fd-4a96-b039-c2584f50a417
The first 6 episodes, though probably will only watch the first 4.
Please join us...
Well... Um... I feel nothing much happened. Did move a chunk of snow, and thought about moving more, but man, it was hard (it might have got nice later, it probably did).
That's about my day. Nothing exciting, but we got through.
Well, laundry. Laundry was exciting I guess.
Thank you everyone. Take care.
