in other news, I'm really getting to quickly like portainer.io and I'm in the process of moving the db container to my external host. Just waiting on the 30GB of the database container to save out so I can upload it and start it up on the remote side!

A while back I had a massive spike in my media storage. More than doubled over night. Culprit was some bot or another (meta i think). Anyway I set the following restrictions and things were back to normal in a day or so and have been stable ever since. But I feel like general post interaction has dropped, especially around hashtags. Is this because it was bots and crap in the first or are my settings too strict?

If Translate has to be installed (even with the extra effort of applying for API keys) and is only available to users logged in to that instance, but not to visitors, then I am not convinced that your original claim is true, which started this thread:"AI is already installed into most of Mastodon via Translate".
Even if Translate is installed on your instance, do you propose that AI is doing anything on "most of #Mastodon", other than offering a translation?
