Dang. After watching 6 episodes, I'm probably going to drop the drama. I really thought Blood River would be a banger for me, but it turned out to be quite boring. The acting isn't the best for most of the cast.There are way too many characters and the drama is all about big fights than character arcs. It's the same reason I flaked out of Immortal Ascension. I am not a fan of those "fight battles to get more strength levels" type of shows eventhough I get it's popular.
Oh well,so I'm dropping this.So sad! Because I really enjoyed Blood of Youth!
Another drama I dropped was Yummy Yummy Yummy, whom I really enjoyed for five episodes, then later I found it drastically changed tone from comedy to romantic angst that stretched for more than 10 episodes. Yeah, ain't got no time for that. Oh well. Bummer!

Sometimes, a drama can be bad, yet highly enjoyable at the same time. Shadow Love is such a drama; it's not a great drama, but it's a fun thirst trap carried by Cheng Lei's shirtless scenes.

So seated for this drama. I am sceptical about Gong Jun's acting chops but at least our Umbrella Assassin isn't known for expressiveness 🤣.
This is a spin off of one of my fav modern wuxias ever, Blood of Youth. Glad that the English department is using the "Blood" theme to good use and am avoiding the Blossom thing lol.
I am not sure how much it will reflect Tales of the Dark River and I hope somehow they could translate that magic in Blood of Youth here.

It still frustrates me how good my Chinese listening skills are, meaning I understand 80% of conversations but when I speak, I have the vocab of a kindergartner 🫠. You'd think that vocab knowledge I have would be accessible to my brain region that controls speech, but like most corporations my brain works in silos.
Ps: I know I have to practice speaking more but omg the lack of time.... 😆

Work is 1/2 hour getting coffee to get the dopamine you need to start work, 1 hour of trying to start, 30 min of actual work, 1 hour of resting from actual work, 2 minutes of seeing Jira notifications and emails and saying fuck it and another hour of trying to get back to work.
