⬆️ Au final je suis revenu sur "Lord of Mysteries" et c'est très chouette.

C'est techniquement un isekai, où un mec se réveille dans le corps d'un gars qui vient de mourir, dans un autre monde (ambiance victorienne + steampunk + horreurs lovecraftiennes). Lui aimerait bien rentrer chez lui, donc il va s'investir dans la scène occulte, choper des pouvoirs, et découvrir un lore incroyaaaable

Par contre les épisodes sont DENSES. Y'a tout le temps beaucoup d'infos de balancées, les évènements s'enchainent sans pause... à la fin de la saison, c'était un peu de la bouillie dans ma tête. On dira que ça gagne à être regardé plusieurs fois :')

Du coup j'ai enchainé avec le matériel d'origine : un webnovel ! Le rythme est déjà mieux maitrisé, les personnages secondaires ont plusse de temps d'exposition, et surtout y'a de la lutte des classes dans cette version, j'aime beaucoup !

⬆️ Update sur "Crowned in a hundred days", un #donghua ( #anime chinois)

L'idée c'est que le protagoniste a 100 jours pour détrôner un tyran qui a kidnappé sa petite amie. Chaque épisode compte pour un jour (donc sans spoiler, la saison 1 avec ses 25 épisodes va pas suffire). Son seul atout, c'est d'avoir fusionné avec l'âme du roi, qui est un bourrin très fort mais pas très malin.
C'est allègrement débile (humour vomi notamment), excessivement gore par moment, mais c'est aussi court, rigolo et bien animé. Je suis curieux de comment ça va évoluer, le réal a fait des séries incroyables avant ça donc y'a moyen de se faire retourner le cerveau.

There's an easter egg, but I leave that outside the commentary. Thanks for having patience with me - I did _not_ anticipate averaging two minutes of film per commenting session! 😅 And this dedication is the perfect ending to a very well-made movie!

A short pause in time, and the clearest picture we ever get of Sun Wukong. I'm impressed the team didn't fall for the temptation to repeat Shanghai Animation's character design from the 60s. Instead this design is closer to CCTVs classic tv version of Journey To The West. Not that these three designs are the only valid versions - there's literally a Wukong for everyone.

Not empty talk btw. Toad, Pig, Ape, and Weasel are all designed with imperfections. The easiest to catch is that Pig's tusks are uneven. The other ones... I have to admit being too distracted by the movie itself, so 10+ views later I still don't know who Toad talks about when he says they have one eye bigger than the other 😳

I didn't know when I first used the term (and hashtag) 'fun with symbolism' but it was made for this sequence. It's as if the entire team went "Righty-_ho_!!!" Let's be so symbolic it gets weird!"

You can analyse the sequence if you want to, but a core function of symbolism is that it hits your core rather than your intellect. It's better to just enjoy and process later.

And suddenly we're outside time. The empty white room as a pause from the storyline is a favourite trick in film making. It's the equivalent of putting up red arrows with flashing neon letters; "Think Over This Point!"

And what is the difference between these characters? Only one of them can read their roadmap of life.

Let's have that thread on Toad (and in som ways also Pig) being the opposite of Tangzan. I need to say, again, that religion is the system we build to handle relations - not christianity without christianity. Because the depressing fact is that people who _truly_ has no religion are extremely prone to become drug addicts or fall for terrorist/extremist doctrines.

I think this is important to say; this is an exagerated role model story. Its point is not that you should do exactly as the characters, but to paint such a flamingly obvious example that you can't miss it. So while Pig & co are swandiving into a flaming volcano*, you can transform this into giving money to Save The Children and be considerate of kids in public spaces.

Nobody is for the most part a light hearted comedy paired with an exciting tense boss fight. But Chinese family movies are more brutal, so if murderous violence isn't your thing you may want to skip from 01:33:00 to 01:35:00. It's a one point thing, but _dark_.

I'm a little sad we never get to see how Pig, Weasel, and Ape stole the Demon King's overcoat - no doubt the sequence would have been hilarious. But I'm even more impressed that _no_* clothes show up without an explanation. That's being devoted to continuity if ever I've seen it!

(*save for _maybe_ a change of Pig's clothes, but I have a feeling I haven't looked close enough)

The tanuki captain realises things are About To Go _Down_ and is not here for it. Fact is they're overjoyed to have their position Elsewhere. Under ground. Safe from Whatever. And they will not question an order from a random toad wearing a little shawl and a green leaf.

It's time to point out that Toad is a kind person. He rescues Pig at the beginning of the movie, and goes to _great_ length helping his friends. But he's also the first to aline himself with and help, the Demon King who literally wants to sacrifice children. Kindness is not enough to prevent him from ending up as a cruel tool.
