  1. I’m looking for example code in #Forth (gforth) that is able to call a https REST API and return the resultant payload for further parsing. I’m currently doing a system call to curl with its output into a temp file I then read back in and parse. This would also be useful for future #MQTT work I have in mind. Sockets are builtin but TLS is not supported natively in #GForth that I can determine.

Any pointers to a pure Forth solution is welcome.

  3. It's been a while, but today I have mostly been playing with #python and #MQTT so I can see the battery charge level of my #enphase system on a #raspberrypi LCD display, via #homeassistant
If that sounds interesting to you, I documented the task here:

Did you know the #OpenNMS open source network monitoring system has an #mqtt collector plugin? It was developed by Dr. Craig Gallen at the University of Southampton for crowdsouricing air quality monitors. That has been out there over 10 years.

  6. @martin I use a bunch of #Meross devices, and setup them up with a local #MQTT in #HomeAssistant so that they are 100% local only. I have plugs, switches, and some bulbs. I've seen those Refoss devices and sort of wondered if they had any connection to the Meross devices. I'll have to consider giving them a whirl if I need any more and the price is right.

  7. @northalpha I've run into the same thing with some other integrations, specifically with some #Meross devices. The Meross LAN integration, using #MQTT , exposes different entities than the #HomeKit integration. I want to say that HomeKit is just not as good as more "native" integrations.

Seems like for some smart devices HomeKit has been slapped on with minimal effort.

10. #MZBench will be a wonderful tool again for folks who need to do #MQTT load testing, writing scenarios in a Python-like scripting language. We'll need a better MQTT worker (current worker doesn't have v5), and maybe extend its configuration options towards scenario scripting. But even as is, this is a very powerful tool and a great sparring partner for #VerneMQ :)
