#Eversource replaced my electric meter #today with a smart meter. Ref: https://www.eversource.com/residential/account-billing/smart-meters
During a normal electric outage our #Enphase #solar storage system kicks in automatically so we don't even notice, but while they were replacing the meter everything had to be shut off completely for safety, so our power went out, just for a few seconds since the guy doing the work knows his stuff.
It took about 20 minutes after that for the Enphase system to come fully back online. D'oh.

Decided to recreate the energy graph that #Enphase provide in their app in #HomeAssistant, not sure why I waited 18 months to do this. Took me a couple of attempts to set up the helpers correctly and ensure consumption was always negative. Example from yesterday looks rather good, might make the numbers above the graph daily totals instead of 15 minutes averages 📈

We had a somewhat beefy solar array installed in 2022. It's consists of 39 Enphase IQ8+ microinverters. The system has been performing well and I don't regret it, but one thing that puzzles me is the failure rate of the microinverters. We lose about 2 per year. It's covered by warranty (including labor), but it kind of blows my mind that Enphase eats this level of annual failures if my system is representative. #enphase #solar #solarpower

I've been troubleshooting some consumption reading discrepancies on my solar installation and these terrible power factor numbers are leaving me with questions.
This was when a washing machine started running, but could a load really be that reactive?
I'm also suspicious that both legs are showing exactly the same consumption, which I wouldn't expect.

Best solar panel production day 2024 vs 2025 (neither solstice was clear)
24/12/2024 - 69kWh
24/12/2025 - 78.14kWh

Best single panels:
NE - 2.92kWh
NW - 3.09kWh
SW - 3.25kWh

I'm at -33.73, near Sydney, so you'd expect the northerly panels to do best, but there's early shade NE, & none NW or SW. Winter, OTOH 🤷

It's *waaaay* more than I need...see large exports. Winter, OTOH, probably the same... 🤷

Hintergrund bei mir ist ein sehr schönes Dach.

Walm-Mansardendach mit 4 Gauben, plus Carport und Garage. 36 Module könnte ich verbauen. Auf 8 verschiedenen Flächen mit unterschiedlichsten Ausrichtungen und teilw. noch verschattet.

Von Solarteuren bekam ich immer Anlagen mit #Tigo-Optimierern oder #Enphase-Mikrowechselrichtern angeboten. Das billigste war 28T€ für 14 kWP mit 10kWh Speicher. Ist ein gutes Jahr her, wird jetzt also ein bisschen billiger sein.

Doppelt so teuer, halb so gut.

Our live #solar production, consumption and output to the grid according to the #Enphase app. This is on a bright, sunny afternoon with both my partner and I working from home. 🌞 We’re new to solar power so this all feels very novel and sort of futuristic.

Update less than 12 hours later: the entire system shut down and isn't responding to #Enphase support's reboot, so I'm now generating 0W. Serves me right for ever being optimistic about anything.

The #enphase Enlighten iOS app (for managing solar panels) is unbelievably bad so now of course I wrote my own little #Rust server that talks to the Envoy (system controller) and am writing my own iOS app with widget support.

Today was one of those all-too-rare perfectly sunny days. Our PV system gobbled it up, and it was cool enough that the air conditioners barely ran.

The box connects to my fried internet.🤦 No wonder the app kept failing...

Anyhoo, the small LEDs at the bottom are all green, so it's working. No job to log. Huzzah!😁

Now that the longer days are here, solar production at the house has gone up a lot, compared to winter, even with one panel down, due to a broken microinverter. We've got rooftop #solar monitored by #Enphase, which I've largely been really happy with. But occasionally the inverters' breaker will flip (after a power surge, etc) and we'll stop producing any power.

I'd expect to get an email about this, but for some reason it's total silence. The app says everything is fine, but a cursory look at the device list shows that something is up.

This has bitten us a couple of times, since we'll be missing sunny days and not knowing it (until I happen to check)

I made a Prometheus exporter for my Emporia Vue Utility Connect and now I have graphs for net usage and consumption in addition to solar production from my Enphase exporter.

Unlike with Enphase, the API is cloud based (booo!) and more discrete, so some data massaging is needed to align the graphs (45s shift in my case).

ich habe endlich mal ein brauchbares Angebot für eine #pvAnlage erhalten:
- 24,5T€ für 13,5 kWP mit 10 kWh-Speicher von #Enphase und 3,5T€ für eine Wallbox wie sie meinem Chef gefällt. Ertragsprognose liegt bei ca. 12000 kWh/a.

Momentan haben wir 4500 kWh Strom- und 26000 kWh Gas-Verbrauch pro Jahr. Heizung ist uralt aber zuverlässig und mit Brennwert.

#eAuto kommt im April.

@aarbrk I have an #Enphase system, but there are a number of vendors whose controllers are capable of participating in they program. I believe there's a list of them on the page I linked.
The vendor manages it all over the internet in collaboration with the utility.
I can't recommend Enphase because I've had problems with them, but they're the only vendor I've ever used for this kind of product, so for all I know all the other vendors could be just as bad or worse.

Ran in to a strange @homeassistant issue with the energy tracking for my #Enphase integration.

Das spannendste an einer #pv-anlage sind die Daten. Seit der PV-Anlage sehe ich in Echtzeit in der #enphase App den Effekt, den ein Wasserkocher, eine Herdplatte oder eine Waschmaschine hat. Eines der Geräte allein verzehnfacht bis zum Abschalten den Hausverbrauch an Strom. Watt Angaben stehen auf jedem Gerät. Aber sobald man die Daten sieht wird es realer, Strom ist nicht "einfach so" da, und ich fange automatisch an zu optimieren.
