It's been a very busy few months for me, here are some progress updates that may be relevant to some people:

- #DMR #trunking code in #MMDVM, MMDVMHost has been almost entirely upstreamed, this means I can stop maintaining my forks now

- DMRGateway code for the Homebrew DMR Trunking Protocol has also been upstreamed but it's waiting for more people to test it

- Added support for the LimeSDR-mini, LimeNET-micro and Ettus USRP to the newly released MMDVM-IQ

Thanks. It relies on existing building blocks though, like #MMDVM , #GNURadio and the #DMR trunking controller (DMRTC) which has been in development for more than two years.

Wishlist for 2026:

* gr-soapy gets transmit timestamp support

* Phil Greenland's #ADALM-Pluto timestamping work gets upstreamed in the firmware, FPGA image, IIO and SoapyPlutoSDR

* I can finally do #DMR and maybe even #TETRA with a Pluto

Saturday projects:

We now have a 2.55 watt output Full Duplex UHF Pi-Star (DMR) Hotspot driven by a "Broadband 1-930 MHz 2w eBay Amp"

Having to run a -10dB attenuator (since the mmdvm outputs 10mw) to not blow up the amp since it only needs 1mw to run it

Hopefully driving the amp with 13.8v won't hurt it too much because it's only meant to be driven with 12v 👀 ...(Just a little spicy given it's output power heh :blobcat_thisisfine: )

Going to have to take a walk later on and see what it's range is like now :blobcatcheer2:

Hey, #hamradio community. I have a problem with my #DMR hotspot. I’m trying to update the #MMDVM hat’s firmware to get on #M17, but I can’t because the flash chip is locked. No problem, jumper J1 and pull BOOT low.

Well, this isn’t the popular model. This came on a pre-assembled #NanoPi hotspot, it doesn’t have the same jumpers, and I can’t find any solid information about this hat besides several AliExpress listings. Plus, there’s a screen permanently attached to the top. Can anyone help?

The recording done by friend @jared on one the multimode networks @vk3jed maintains here in VK, so basically it my #Module17 hooked to Yaesu FT-7800 going to my #MMDVM mini repeater with M17 to multimode network to #DMR that @jared is using. Also when this filmed I not been awake long 😹

Friends low-ish cost fullduplex "SDR #raspberrypi hat now properly receives #DMR

Now we just need to learn how to actually configure the #MMDVM side of things.
As it is not like an SDR of which there are less than 10pcs in existence is supported in #Pi-Star or #WPSD.
Not yet anyway.

I checked in to the Pride Radio Group net for the first time!

Finally got my #DMR hotspot to work on a network other than #Brandmeister

Looks like #FreeDMR was having trouble, so I connected via #TGIF instead

Right from a QSO on DMR. So, voila - so far have we gone with the MMDVM external display using M5Stack, Blockly and MQTT. The Mosquitto server doesn't harm the Raspberry Pi at all - so CPU stays very low (same as temperature at ~ 52° C). The load stays at 0.02 with me still experimenting. So I guess this setup should even work without any challenges on the Raspberry Pi Zero. Code is still a mess and it looks like someone is prototyping ;) - however; we are getting somewhere. Some of the field are still static. #mmdvm #hotspot #dmr #m5stack #mosquitto #mqtt #hamradio #pistar

A M5Stack running a blockly user interface that displays the mmdvm hotspot data from my mmdvm2mqtt reactor. Love it, still fighting some refresh issues (as you can see). So this is a very very early prototype! However, everything that can be integrated with MQTT can be used. Do you want to integrate your mmdvm into your home assistant? Your home automation? Store data about key ups, kerchunks, talk group activities? There you go. Just integrate against the Mosquitto MQTT server. The m5stack features a small battery and yes, I take my mmdvm display any where. #mmdvm #hamradio #dmr #hotspot #mqtt #mosquitto #iot

#WPSD is working now with the config page saving successfully!

I had to rewipe the SD card and re-config the Wi-Fi

I got it configured for #Brandmeister and #FreeDMR and I've been able to connect my radio and TX and RX DMR!

This is exciting!

Next step, see if I can get D-Star working for my ID-5100A to this hotspot lol

Do any of you amateur #radio nerds use an #MMDVM? I just got one and am setting it up, but I don't want to use #PiStar because it doesn't have an explicit open source license, and was last built on Debian 10 (oldoldstable).
So I'm trying to find sufficient documentation to do things manually, if at all possible. I *may* end up just doing a big write-up myself once I work it out, but if others have done similar things, it could save me some time. #DMR #HAMRadio #HotSpot

My lunch box #MMDVM hat has had added 3.5" #Nextion enhanced display to the lid, also added a 24V fan for air circulation. The power to all this is via a 12V to 5V buck converter and the fan is connected to the 12V input to that, and the Pi and MMDVM Dual at is connected to the USB socket with short cable.

Also has room to have a battery bank to be add to it in the future if needed

QSO with Stan #WB8QJZ who is in the Keweenaw Peninsula, and also a nice conversation with another bicyclist who had also stopped in Gregory about bike trails in Florida.

The trail is very flat - it's an old railroad grade converted to a rail trail.

Of late I have been hearing from and about people being banned in VK from the #VKDMR+ network because of belonging to the Bayswater AR club which I have to say is fucking dreadful and is not in the spirit of AR. I personally not been on the said network for a while due to the packet loss over the network.

But non the less theses people have been more than welcome to the VK #FreeDMR network, and cause of this we getting more bare metal repeaters on the network too.
