First attempt at a bucket hat was not an unmitigated disaster!

I am trying out a new yarn type, at least for me. a 50/50 mix of cotton and viscose. I don’t know yet what it will end up being so I just work up some granny squares. Any Ideas what to do with them? #crochet #wip #grannysquares #cotton #viscose

Ive reached a point in this project where i either have to give up or start outright winging it until i make it to the finish line
Its intended to be the canopy of a parasol, but i miscalcluated when initially planning the project and its radius is currently half of what it needs to be to fit the frame i bought to finish it. My plan to "double" the original pattern isnt going to work as i thought it would and there will be huge additional sections i have to design and execute on top of the original doubling and its just so overwhelming to think about bc circles and math and planning are difficult
Ive already frogged and rewoven so much of this thing so many times, im learning a LOT as i go but its just... a lot to know much more of that there is to get thru before its done
Im hoping that sharing here will help me get grounded and motivated to dive into the second "half" of this thing
Made from thrifted thread, used 2.75mm hook

Working on "My precious cardigan" (free pattern from Hobbii) and loving my experience so far. I'm just unsure about the yellow transition.
I hope that trusting the process will pay off :psyduck:#crochet #fiberart #fiberarts #crocheting #yarn #wheelofalpaga #hobbii #trusttheprocess #fallcolors #fallcolours #mastoart

Got a lovely yarn haul - enough for several projects I have planned! - from a recent sale at [Dye Hard Yarns](http://www.dyehardyarns.com).
Most of it is cakes, but of course the two projects I want to make first (a birthday gift for a friend, and a gift for my bestie from college) are using skeins that need to be made into yarn balls. I haven't yet invested in a yarn swift, so this is a still a manual process... 🙄 And lace-weight yarn is particularly tricky, because it *loves* to tangle.
But I've realized that I can walk at my treadmill desk, listening to my favorite podcast, while I unwind the skein and wind the yarn ball! 🧶💖 My insulated mug makes a smooth, sturdy hanger for the skein, too.
I get about 5,000 steps per yarn ball, so that was a nice easy 10,000 steps today... 😇

Crafty people, beware!! Lang Yarns does a really crappy job of transitioning colors to fill out a skein of gradient yarn. This is their Merino + Color, 926.0200 - the second time I've run into this abomination...
I don't think I'll buy gradient yarn from them again, since two of the five skeins I bought have this problem. Fortunately I was able to work around it, but 😡.

I finished Donald Duck. I think the wee nephew is going to like his birthday present 😊

That's actually two (or three?) throwbacks in one. I've made this #barbie dress back in 2009 - it's on the barbie I got probably sometime in the 1970ies. And making dresses for barbie was how I mostly learned to #crochet after knowing the basic sts. It was my first expression of #fibercraft #creativity (I think one of those dresses still exists, I'll have to dig)
Though here I used a pattern - "Morning Glory Fashion Doll Dress" (no longer available).

Il est un peu plus ressemblant que Winnie je trouve mais c'est aussi parce que je n'avais pas la bonne couleur de fil pour Winnie.#crochet

Some white #crochet from our Festival ...
Does anybody know how this "wavy" technique (photo 3/4) was called/made:
edit: Image search showed me "Victorian hexagons". I found originals from the 1920/50s but it may be much older.
On Ravelry I found modernized patterns with "popcorns": https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/marguerite-bedspread-6132#fiberArts #fibreArt #häkeln #crocheter #museum #yarn #wool #white #Alsace #MaisonRurale

un magnifique motif de roues au crochet, ça a l'air si délicat. (également c'est dommage qu'on ne trouve pas du tout les laines alizée en france, elles ont un el aspect pour un prix modique)

About 10 years ago, I foolishly took on my first and last crochet commission piece. Foolishly, because I wasn't prepared to accept commissions. My customer was a friend with whom I'd done business prior. They were aware of my personal circumstances at the time, including that I needed income. They wanted a crochet item & saw an opportunity to fix two problems on the cheap. I was given no opportunity to explain that I don't work with a specific yarn -- I was just pressured, then railroaded, and then they told me the item was needed within much less time than I had available to schedule for it. It was such a nightmare experience, I closed my Etsy shop almost immediately after that, never to return to it.
Things are much different now. So I'm trying again -- though definitely not through Etsy.

Basket taking shape now!
Have ordered some padded silicone crochet hooks to see if that helps with the hand fatigue and cramping. I've a whole set of cheaper ones coming (quilted bear) and one single Tulip Etimo in the right size. A set of the Tulips runs to about £88 which is way out of my price range! I'll do a comparison when they arrive.
