  35. Square. Circle. Triangle. (Lin Yung Cheng)

Taiwanese photographer Yung Cheng Lin aka 3cm investigates the concept of femininity in a critical and provocative way.

"The freedom to enjoy your body and feel good for what you are or have is still a mirage that somehow steals the female identity to instead offer a false promise of respect and love. In this series of images, the body draws incomplete or imperfect geometries as if it were forcing itself to respect rules that do not characterize it."

  37. By Jamea Richmond-Edwards (b. 1982, Detroit, MI), "Archetype of a 5 Star," 2018 (acrylic, spray paint, glitter, ink and cut paper collage on canvas, 60 × 48 inches), ©️ Jamea Richmond-Edwards. #blackart #blackartist #womanartist #womensart #collage

From Victoria L. Valentine, Culture Type, April 20, 2018: ‘AS A YOUNG GIRL, Jamea Richmond-Edwards got lost in the pages of Ebony magazine. She was particularly drawn to the runway images from the Ebony Fashion Fair show. Through the otherworldly photographs of stunning black models styled in wildly imaginative ensembles, she discovered haute couture and envisioned herself as a fashion designer. Years later, she chose visual art over fashion design, but never gave up on her desire to explore the artifice of dressing.

"Those images were very visually affirming for me. It presented black women in a space that had never seen before," Richmond-Edwards told me via email.’

  38. Ive reached a point in this project where i either have to give up or start outright winging it until i make it to the finish line

Its intended to be the canopy of a parasol, but i miscalcluated when initially planning the project and its radius is currently half of what it needs to be to fit the frame i bought to finish it. My plan to "double" the original pattern isnt going to work as i thought it would and there will be huge additional sections i have to design and execute on top of the original doubling and its just so overwhelming to think about bc circles and math and planning are difficult

Ive already frogged and rewoven so much of this thing so many times, im learning a LOT as i go but its just... a lot to know much more of that there is to get thru before its done

Im hoping that sharing here will help me get grounded and motivated to dive into the second "half" of this thing
