We seriously have a problem with marketing. #Natural doesn't mean is good (or bad) inherently. This is a #naturalistic #fallacy. Poison is bad and can be either natural or artificial. Vaccines are artificial and good. Apples are natural and good.

When I hear llm users say "it's so convenient" or "I couldn't do what I do without it", I am rolling my eyes because that convenience is inherently destructive and unsustainable.
You *will* to do without it. It doesn't matter the scope or the frequency you use llms, you cannot expect to use it *at all* in the coming years. The bubble will burst, or the damage to our societies, people or environment will be too great, or some other event like war or sabotage...
You will have to let it go, willingly or not. Get used to it now, while you still have a choice.

Yeah. I think Peertube is the way forward, but both of your points (ease of hosting and monetization) really need work. That said, I don't think either of those issues is inherently incompatible with Peertube as a platform. In fact, if you deal with the second point, it would kind of eliminate much of the first, as it would be cost effective for people to pay for a managed hosted instance.
The trick to monetization imo, is plugins that support more Fedi-ideologically aligned methods than ads such as Patreon style funding, superchats on livestreams, easy donations etc.
