New post coming, my first weekly idea for writing on my blog (https://bluerosesociety.space), which I'm calling the SWIPE series.

SWIPE is: So, a Week In Prideful Eldering.

The concept is simple and straightfoward. I make voice notes when I am eldering the trans community (mostly locally, but I'd love other elders to take up the banner as well, in their locales).

Then once a week, share them with you. These will largely be posts of positivity; being an elder is a very good feeling, and the work feels good in itself.

First one in an hour, and I'm hoping to figure out how to make the post link itself on Fedi. The site has the power, I have to figure out the secret words to invoke it.

I will be very happy if you can pass along that link anywhere you want to, any trans folk who might like to hear tales of being that rare, rare unicorn: the old person who got that way while existing as trans.

I will also be happy if questions get posed in the comments - ideas for further writing can come from those questions.

The blog will never be paywalled in any way. The only way to pay me is to be deliberate about it, each time. For me, that's the only ethical way I can ask: if I did something you found valuable, you can support me through PayPal to my email address ([email protected]). Other avenues also exist, such as Interac in Canada, and wire transfers from other places.

The only way to get around that "you must choose every time" is to set up a recurring donation wherever you donate, if they have that. Recurring donations are great: I can rely on that number on a regular basis. But anything helps.

I will probably, when suitable, post a display for transparency, about exactly how much I am receiving, to further inform your choices. If you reckon I'm getting enough, make me even happier by donating that money to a trans person who needs, best to intersectionally-affected trans folk (Black and trans, disabled and trans, and so on).

I just wanted to share my moment of joy.

I am sitting at Legendarium, a trans owned bookstore and coffee shop and gaming center here in the SL,UT. Drinking a spiced mocha, hot, as the sun beats down on my skin in the 96° August afternoon. I had a wonderful night of intense connection with someone I love, followed by a morning spent in bed with him, talking and feeling close.

Tonight, I intend to connect more deeply to myself at a workshop held by Tantra Utah, and open myself to a holistic connection to those around me.

As I write my plans out for my upcoming adventure to Black Rock City, and think about bringing my community's intentions with me on my journey.

I am so thrilled to be me, here, now, in this body, on this Earth, open to all of the wonder and abundance that surrounds me. 🙏🪄🦄

Another dull post, just a bit of #TransJoy.

We're going on a lovely walk with our doggo Cookie. She's 15 now, but noone has told her that, so she is full of beans. 😊

It's just nice to go out with my wife and doggie. 💜

Tired after yesterday. Want to head out for some Thai ingredients (like Holy Basil 🌿) as is traditional on my brief visits but "signal failure at [xyz] " so coffeeing, and waiting to see ...

Anyway today's selfies, complete with grey hairs and wrinkles because we're not ALL 20-30s year olds. Have felt a lot more comfortable in my body as a 'whole' this year, out in a LBD at 57.

Back to Cork in a couple of days. Somehow being in the UK as a #trans woman feels like taking -1 HP daily, and my +1 daily ring of regeneration and +10 healing potion :potion_trans: aka @IsabelB is back in Ireland waiting for me 🫂 😘

I got a new microphone for Teams calls. So I needed to listen to myself talking to set the levels. This is a special type of torture, but well I still need to work on my voice. It was much better than I thought. I'm taking that win #TransJoy

Almost two months ago, after 3½ years of #Estrogen #monotherapy #HRT (I had started off taking only estrogen to see how my body and psyche would respond to it − it felt like I finally got something that I had been craving my whole life, like it plugged a hole that I had never even realised was there, and the E by itself already sufficiently lowered my T so there was no need to add blockers), I added #Progesterone to the mix. And surprisingly, it felt similar to when I started E. A feeling of physical, bodily satisfaction, a feeling of calm and relaxation, the satisfaction of a nutritional requirement that I didn't even know I had... I've been sleeping much better and yeah it does indeed fill out the boobs, making them rounder, firmer. #Hormones are nothing short of #medical #magic!

I love ❤️ the delicious ambiguousness of a bottle of Oestrogel on the table for a 57 year old trans woman, although I mainly only use it when travelling these days

I remember back in Cork a few years ago a similarly aged (cis) woman absolutely staring at said Oestrogel several times from her table near us. Couldn't take her eyes off it, Isabel will remember this

Options I guess -

a) Potentially she's realised she's clocked her first ever #trans woman in the 'wild', which is nice. Gold star you ⭐
b) She hasn't, but she thinks I'm simply a shameless woman displaying my HRT in public and applying it in public view (Ireland can be a bit odd)
c) She desperately wants to try it herself but her GP won't prescribe what she needs :estrogen: (GPs are often socially conservative jerks about women's bodies)

Anyway it's stifling inside as I don't have aircon. It's heading up to 34°C. A slow day ahead I think

Gosh it is warm today 🥵 and it's still morning in London ☀️

I bought a new pair of frames, cheap as a second pair. Trying them on outside, I'm minded to comment how my pair of Tom Ford glasses properly wielded (School Ma'am-style, withering glare or cold stare over the top) has become a wonderful weapon in the outside world.

Well it works with my TFs - less so with the new ones, but I just want a backup and they are nice and neutral and at £25 will 'do a job' when I get lenses.

I booked to go back to Kenwood Ladies Pool 🏊‍♀️ in Hampstead again next week. Yes, it really IS that lovely and this time I will bring snacks and water and laze in the shade in The Meadow sunbathing area. Am I clocked as a trans woman in a bikini? Look, who knows, I am tall ... but living pure stealth would be like exchanging one box for another for me.

As @IsabelB would say "I'm just me" and these are wise words from a quite amazing woman (in my admittedly biased opinion!)

BUT we're counting down the days now (I think!) and I'm very tired after yesterday but very happy I went. It's a good thirty minutes walk from the station to Kenwood Ladies Pool. Next time I know the ropes and how it works ...

Today’s dress stands out ie. It's NOT a class-appropriate conservative khaki dress or black or sage green or small floral pattern (ugh!) dress for where I am, but I do get smiles from women.

Seems this summer as I explore bright colour at age 57, I realise again so many of society's rules about what's 'appropriate' for a woman's age, or body shape (or for the English class, ofc) is basically the patriarchy in action in our daily lives.

Anyway enough wittering. Today will be a gentle day, but I DID like this old Mercedes 280SL coupe a lot on the way to coffee ...
