I had to disable the #WearOS app of #Cofi from the Google Play Store.
Google wouldn't ship any updates to Cofi if I didn't implement Ongoing Activity into the wearOS app, even after disabling all of the code related to the notifications and working in the background.
I don't have time right now to rewrite notifications and timer handling to include Ongoing Activity, and I needed to unblock Android app updates so that I could ship all the new features that I implemented since the last update. -
I'm having a lot of fun playing with Compose multiplatform. It looks like the fastest way to build an app for Android, Web, and Desktop all at once. Sure, it isn't as mature as #ReactJS + #ReactNative but it does require a lot less effort/boilerplate to start building the app.
I need to check out what the iOS side looks like.I'm not sure I like that web version is compiled into #wasm

Cool and all, but with requirements to pay Apple "technology fee" it still sucks for #OpenSource apps.
I would be open to try and port #Cofi to #ComposeMultiplatform, but I don't want to pay anything for distributing the app on my own.https://9to5mac.com/2024/03/12/iphone-app-store-changes-web-distribution-more/

#Cofi is a simple, but pretty and easy to use, coffee timer built specifically for alternative coffee brewing (mostly via drip)
It also has a version on WearOS, is open source, and uses all the newest APIs and technologies (at least tries to)
You can get it on the Play Store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.omelan.cofi
Or F-Droid https://www.f-droid.org/packages/com.omelan.cofi/ -
@spacecowboy aren't Github Actions runners free for public repositories?
You can use macOS runners to get hardware acceleration. That's what I do in #Cofi

Amazing, my lack of time worked out in my favor.
I was about to start seriously working on adding #DecentScale support to #Cofi and I think my work just got a lot easier

I found a great deal on a used #PixelWatch and decided to pull the trigger. My last #smartwatch was a 1st gen #Moto360
Let's see if after all those years #WearOS matured enough for me to take it seriously.
As a bonus, now I have a physical device to test #Cofi on! I've already notice few things that I should fix, that I didn't see testing on the emulator. -
We at #Nozbe released another part of our code as #OpenSource
This time it's pure #javascript fuzzy search #library
It's fast. It's smol. And most importantly it's freaking useful.
As a bonus it also includes useful Highlight component for #ReactJS #ReactNative
@radex is the main author so all questions and praise should go to him
Check out our demo and documentation on #Github

TFW You need to trim your changelog to be under 500 chars or you wouldn't be able to release the app on the #GooglePlayStore
1.19.0 #Cofi if gonna be one of my favorite releases

#Cofi is getting two new default recipes, improved multiplier setting on #AndroidApp, recipe description on #WearOS and lot's of small improvements. Only question is when 😅

Some time ago I created a #MechanicalKeyboard MacroPad as a gift for my coworkers at #Nozbe https://github.com/rozPierog/NozbePad
Turns out there are some unintended consequences to that. Welcome to the age of "Leon Omelan Device"

@codeinabox @nick_tune thanks for the shout out. James is an amazing educator and the reason why I got into coffee as much as I did (and the rabbit hole is just keep getting deeper and deeper)
#Cofi contains some of the recipes from his channel thanks to him being generous enough to allow me to do so

My last hurrah, a set of #Cofi promotion posts on #Reddit before it goes down, gave me a boost that I needed.
Currently, #Cofi is being used on over 1k devices, as reported on the Google Play Store. Only the gods know how many more are using the #GitHub APK and #FDroid downloads, as I don't track them.
And has over 200⭐️ on #GithubSo long reddit, and thanks for all the fish!

So close to two important milestones for #Cofi
200⭐️ on #Github and 1k active devices on #GooglePlayStoreI hope that the next update (https://github.com/rozPierog/Cofi/blob/main/docs/Changelog.md#unreleased), that will hopefully contain this PR with a new default recipe https://github.com/rozPierog/Cofi/pull/179, will give it a boost to crush both those numbers
Also of note, I got my first ever recurring sponsor on #Liberapay so that's something to celebrate! 🥳

One of the users of #Cofi pushed me to finally finish setting up translation website.
Editing XML files is just too much for most people.
I've picked @weblate as it seems the best, out of the box, solution for #OpenSource #AndroidDev #BuildInPublic apps. https://hosted.weblate.org/engage/cofi/Now I just need to 🤞 that my request for #Libre billing will be approved without any issues

What a week of work on #Cofi
Fueled by Brazilian #coffee brewed in a #V60What you can expect in the next version:
- Updated German translation (not perfect, I welcome contributions!)
- Next step will now show beneath the timer, to get you ready for what comes next
- Added update info with a link to changelog
- Support dialog that shows up after you used a recipe 2 times
- updated design of the bottom sheets#BuildInPublic #AndroidDev #JetpackCompose #OpenSource #Foss #WearOS #AndroidApp

Devilishly nice numbers to start my day to.

#Cofi just crossed 100⭐ on #Github
When I started out I was building a tool just for myself, but thanks to the power of #foss I've made an app that helps hundreds of people, everyday.I've learned a lot about #JetpackCompose #WearOS (and overall #androiddev), #automation of builds, how to handle #OpenSource projects, and how to fund them.
So here is to the 100 more ☕
