  1. #AMD #Zen6 Client #HSMP Patches Point To "#RyzenMaster" Functionality On #Linux
    Posted to #Linuxkernel mailing enabling AMD Zen 6 client desktop and laptop SoCs for HSMP driver. Up to now AMD HSMP was just used for modern #EPYC #CPU while now we are seeing this HSMP driver supporting upcoming Medusa and Olympic Ridge client platforms... Including mentions of overclocking and even noting "Ryzen Master" as the Windows-only software for overclocking and system management.

  3. #AMD #ZenDNN6.0 Brings Many Improvements For Accelerating Inference On #Ryzen/#EPYC CPUs
    #ZenDNN is AMD's alternative to the Intel / UXL Foundation #oneDNN library and to serve as an AMD CPU optimized solution that can work with the likes of #TensorFlow and #PyTorch via plug-ins. While typically we don't begin seeing new AMD software releases until at/after new AMD CPU launches, this time around with ZenDNN 6.0 we are seeing it arrive prior to official AMD #Zen6 debut

  4. Beyond #Zen6 and #Zen6C... #Zen6LP?
    #AMD confirms low-power #CPU cores in #Linux kernel patch — Zen 6 chips could follow in Intel's footsteps with new core type for background tasks
    AMD only classified its cores as Performance and Efficiency, while the latest patch adds Low-Power cores. The patch enables Linux to distinguish between Performance, Efficiency, and Low-Power cores efficiently, and the latter are also correctly supported by AMD's performance management.

  5. More AMD Zen 6 CPU models supported in Linux 7.1 RC7!

    The upcoming release candidate of Linux 7.1, which is expected to be the last one, has seen some interesting changes that happened to the kernel and its components. One of those changes was that more AMD Zen 6 CPU models are now supported, starting from the seventh release candidate of Linux 7.1.

    Linux used to recognize the following models as AMD Zen 6 in Family 26:

    • Model 80 to 95 (0x50 -> 0x5f)
    • Model 128 to 175 (0x80 -> 0xaf)
    • Model 192 to 207 (0xc0 -> 0xcf)

    The new patch, which made it to this release candidate, expands the list of supported models to Model 239 (0xef). Some of those models that are now supported are just engineering parts and custom SKUs, though, and this expansion of supported models is good to ease support for those new models.

    This is necessary for upcoming Ryzen and EPYC processors, which are expected to be unveiled later. This change, however, is part of a larger patch that consists of “x86 fixes” that were made, which is fairly small.

  6. #AMD #Zen6 '#Venice' ES #CPU chips break cover with up to 192 cores, 32 per CCD, in early stress test — Kenya, Congo, Nigeria platforms leaked
    One of Zen 6's biggest upgrades is the larger core count CCDs for the Zen 6 and #Zen6c cores.
    The 64-core and 128-core models come with 32 cores per CCD, while the 192-core trims use 24 cores per CCD. These numbers back up previous reports of Zen 6 improving the number of cores available on each CCD.

  10. #AMD publishes first #Zen6 document detailing ground-up redesign on 2nm process node — brand-new 8wide CPU core with strong vector capabilities
    AMD revealed features up to 256 cores and be made using TSMC's 2nm. This week's document for software developers states that the Zen 6 microarchitecture is no longer an incremental evolution of Zen 4/Zen 5, but a deliberately wide, throughput-oriented design with an eight-slot dispatch engine and simultaneous multi-threading (SMT)

    Sounds like they're leaning heavily into 'datacenter' with this one.

  16. Sorry guys, but the #Z2Extreme doesn't look like a huge leap in performance.

    Guess we will have to wait until AMD gets their shit together for #RDNA5 and #Zen6, hopefully on TSMC 3nm, to see if there are big performance leaps or not.

    There is a reason why Valve hasn't released a Steam Deck 2, and this is the answer to that question.
