After updating my home server to 7.9, #openbsd obviously, I still need to update my #postgresql to v18. Then I will reshuffle the laptops: #alpinelinux will go onto the #x240, #openbsd will go onto the #x270, and whenever #netbsd11 will be there, it will go onto my new favorite, the #t490s.
When will #netbsd11 be there?
I am making it between the stages of #giroditalia2026, hitting the gym, and other things old people do. -

People with a ThinkPad X270 - what have you upgraded so far?
Thinking about replacing the HD display with a full HD one (so far around 55€ at AliEx.).
Has anyone ever tried to use an external graphic card?

Looking into upgrading my Thinkpad X270, I confirm the price of ram has gone through the roof. I was looking for a 16gb 2400 sodimm. I thnk I'll stay with 8gb for now, gulp...
Also it turns out that the bluetooth on my wifi nic isn't functioning, so I'm replacing the card with an AC210.

On the ThinkPad X270, you may have to replace the whole keyboard to get that key working. Unfortunately on that model, it means a complete disassembly of the laptop, which is not quick or easy.
The ThinkPad X240 - X270 were designed like that. The X201, X220 and X230 that preceded those are easier to work on, as is the X280 that came after.

Doing some upgrades and a thermal cleaning on a ThinkPad T470.
Great ThinkPad model. I love how it has three different physical connectors that can charge the laptop:
- Standard ThinkPad rectangular charge port
- USB C charging port
- bottom docking station charge port
This is extremely rare in laptops to have three ways to charge a laptop. Do you know of any other laptops that can do this outside the ThinkPad **70 series?

I am also using #Devuan 5 on both my ThinkPad X270 laptop and ThinkStation workstation.
My experimentation will be with #voidlinux and #netBSD, probably on different hardware - to keep my main two computers stable for work use.

Comme j'ai beaucoup bidouillé ces deux derniers jours et que je vais devoir refaire ces manip à chaque installation de mon PC, j'ai fait un article de niche (encore) pour être sûre d'avoir sous la main comment contourner un bug dans le BIOS de mon laptop, et comment désactiver son écran tactile.

Nach zwei Tagen mit #nixos will sich noch immer kein "Haben-wollen-Gefühl" einstellen. Was nicht bedeuten soll, dass es nicht läuft - im Gegenteil - es funktioniert alles prima auf dem #lenovo #x270 .
Ich bin wohl einfach zu sehr auf das klassische "handling" mit #linux geprägt. 🤷♂️ ...*hust-alter-sack*...
Dennoch ist es ein interessantes #os , welches ich im Auge behalten werde.

Nach langer Zeit mal wieder was zum Spielen gekauft. 😀 Ein kleines, aber feines, gebrauchtes #lenovo #x270 ist es geworden. Ich bin angenehm überrascht, wie gut in Schuß das Gerät noch ist. Ich werde es in den nächsten Tagen bestimmt mal aufschrauben und eine Bestandsaufnahme machen. Mal sehen, was man noch pimpen kann... 😎

Поставил профиль https://www.notebookcheck.net/uploads/tx_nbc2/N125HCE_GN1_01.icm и мир заиграл новыми красками! Черный стал черным, цвета стали более насыщенными.
И как я полгода мог наслаждаться IPS матрицей без цветового профиля? -

@minino kauf dir vielleicht ein gebrauchtes #Thinkpad der X oder T Reihe (nicht die anderen Reihen). Wie gut Minecraft darauf laeuft weiss ich nicht, eher etwas niedrigere Einstellungen, weil Minecraft doch ein bisschen was braucht an Power.
Auf ebay kannste Thinkpads kaufen, denke #X240, #X250, #X260 oder #T440, #T450, #T460 sind gerade die Modelle, die vom Preisleistungsverhaeltnis am besten sind. Wenn du guenstig #X270 oder #T470 bekommst ist natuerlich auch gut.Vor allem sind diese Modellreihen zu empfehlen, weil sie historisch gute Qualitaet hatten (wie das jetzt bei den neueren Modellen ist wird noch drueber diskutiert, hat aber nachgelassen) aber vor allem, weil auf ebay immer groessere Mengen verkauft werden, die von Businesskunden kommen und nach wenigen Jahren ersetzt werden.
