I have an amplifi HD router at home and functionally it has been fine, except there hasn't been a firmware update since 2024.
I've ran openwrt previously on other setups and loved it. Originally I got this setup for another person, then got it back after they didn't need it.
Is there an S tier hardware setup that is well supported? Haven't done any recon on mesh support, but it would be nice to have so distant things aren't relegated to uber slow 2.4ghz connections, even if the mesh backhaul isn't wired.
I do however have cat5 (yes not cat6) drops in most the rooms, so mesh backhaul could be wired.
Any suggestions/personal experiences?

Звучит как очередной заголовок из серии «будущее уже наступило»: берём обычный Wi-Fi, несколько дешёвых ESP32 и внезапно видим на экране человека, который находится за стеной. Без камеры, без датчиков на человеке и даже без какого-нибудь браслета. Я наткнулся на проект RuView, раньше он назывался WiFi-DensePose. В итоге полез смотреть, что там внутри: репозиторий, документацию, модели и issues. Если коротко: проект настоящий. Но ESP32 за девять долларов пока не превращает квартиру в рентген-кабинет.

I'm happy to report that the $0.99 m.2 adapter and AX200NGW Wi-Fi 6 m.2 card on AliExpress WORK on both my 2014 MacBook Air and 2015 MacBook Pro!
The AX200NGW also works on my other laptops, a HP 14-dq1025cl and a ThinkPad A475.
Who knew it would take a Wi-Fi 6 card to finally get full Wi-Fi 5 speeds on my network? Time to order some more Wi-Fi cards...

Heute Abend kam der Kabelkram und ich hab nen ersten Prototypen gebaut. Passt alles wie ich's mir vorgestellt habe, keine bösen Überraschungen. Läuft.
Langzeittest über 27 h zeigt: bei voller Powerbank kann Breitband-Berta rechnerisch knapp 5 Tage die LANwirtschaft versorgen. Moobiles Internet von Mo(o) bis Fr ist damit machbar.

Man… #Tapo is just shit and #TPLink just makes crappy hardware and software.
You see… Yet again, their Smart Wifi Plug, which is #Matter over #WiFi, started reporting insane power numbers on a pretty weak Dyson vacuum charger…
To a point it has dominated all the energy graphs in #HomeAssistant… It is also for some unknown reason reseting it self and dropping old entities, while creating new entities in the same HA device.
Replaced it with Matter over #Thread #Ikea #GRILLPLATS…

Something happened, I don't understand it.
I have a Teltonika RUT240 as a #wifi AP which serves a Raspberry Pi 3, a 4, a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, and a RPi Pico. All devices are within very close distance (2 - 3m).
Last night, something happened. Three of the four RPis show very high packet loss despite very good RSSI values and Link Quality. The fourth remains rock solid. There are no other Wifi networks within 50m of the AP.
I switched channels, and a dozen other WiFi parameters. Reduced the WiFi TX power on all devices I could, switched off power saving modes. Rebooted the AP. Rebooted the devices. Nothing changes. That one Pi is rock solid, immediately reconnects to the AP and has RTTs < 5ms, while the others are extremely unreliable, no matter what I do.
I am 800km away from the location, so I cannot do anything physically to it right now.
Open for suggestions what may have happened here, or how to debug this mess!

I think it is important that the high confidence-low ability side of the Dunning-Kruger spectrum get on using #WiFi to mean “internet,” to a degree where they won’t notice if I refer to WiFi-cables. -
Yay, your ISP is monitoring whether or not you're home based on Wi-Fi signals. That info won't leak, no siree! We can't abuse that in ANY way....
