I am pretty excited to soon start selling a PCB project I created. The Weblink Backpack- I designed around the Xiao ESP32 board, making it easy to connect to a controllable, neon transformer.

The backpack earned its keep when a client wanted their neon to be dimmable but didn’t want to see the knob — while still wanting the knob to be reachable. I realized that I could use my backpack design to bring the dimmer knob to the client's phone.
Since then, these backpacks have become my go to for just about any blinking or dimming design. I have started recommending them to others as the most convenient way to blink tubes except I need to start making them available- hence this video-

My #wifi went a bit crappy. I think #linux was really to blame. So I bought a few wifi dongles to try them out.

The one I was using -- a nice mini one -- started playing up. When I open my laptop the computer can't see it and I have to unplug and plug so the computer sees it, or I just wait for half an hour before the computer sees it.

I'd rather not keep unplugging and plugging all the time so I plugged a spare dongle in as well which works all the time and I can use that while I wait for the other one to work.

So I'm basically using two wifi connections at the same time now.

Replacing the existing single switch with an identical one with 2 switches and then using a Shelly unit appears to the be the answer!

Installed a ceiling fan & light and hooked it up to Home Assistant.

Original light switch is a single gang power switch. This is no longer needed as the fan will be controlled by remote means..

I want to replace it with a 2 gang ZigBee or WiFi scene switch that I'll hook up to the fan & light within Home Assistant.

My wife has agreed to this, but only if "it doesn't look out of place".

I have yet to see a scene switch that isn't white or black plastic.

Any recommendations out there? :)

В одной из своих статей я уже рассказывал, как из Raspberry Pi Pico сделать USB CD-ROM. Так как размер флеш-памяти Pico ограничен, поместить что-то серьёзное в образ, который будет находиться во флеш-памяти невозможно. Можно попробовать разместить образ на флеш-карте и использовать модуль для неё, но я нашёл более интересное с точки зрения используемых технологий решение. Эмулировать образ, который находится в интернете. Образа многих дистрибутивов Linux доступны для загрузки с сайта.

@doener the pictures in those articles are #ai generated #fiberoptic #cables in #germany are usually #orange and you are lucky if companies are incentivized enough to put them in the ground, because the #copper #strategy of #telekom was a #catastrope but it was probably because #stockmarket #investors prefer #dividends over #investment in #infrastructure to make sure the #telekom still exists tomorrow
