  1. I’m mainly sharing this interview tip because it really helped @cloudthethings recently:

If you get a tech question where the answer is “well I wouldn’t do x” or a simple answer when they’re expecting a deep answer, remember:
    - interviews are meta
    - this is not real

    So here’s the trick.
“If this was real work, I’d say not do this because [reason] however I understand you’re asking me to explore this as a interview topic so in the spirit of that we can explore…. “

It’s magic. You get the real opinion done and heard, so you don’t lose credibility but you’re still allowing them to use their notes and see how you approach problem solving. Plus you can seem more senior by considering build vs buy as an option upfront, assuming the “don’t do” is “get foo to do they have a tool”.

    Enjoy! #interview #techtest #interviewscenario #whiteboarding

  2. hey fedizens, what's poppin'? I need your opinions on #productivity apps of the #NoteTaking #ProjectManagement #Kanban #Whiteboarding spectrum of functionalities and of the #OpenSource nature. think #Notion, #Miro and #Trello, but I'm actually torn between #AffinePro, #Anytype and #AppFlowy. what say y'all? thanks in advance! #FediHelp #FOSS #SelfHost

  3. (Digital) can help grow an idea. But don't mistake it for , the real foundation of a durable product. No one will look at that board once the meeting is over!

"People use Post-its to […] make meetings more collaborative […] Instead, images of such sessions became products themselves. […] Their meaning doesn’t come from what is written, but from its having been written across colorful rectangles and squares."

  4. Y'all! You know all of these whiteboarding tools, like Miro, Figjam.

Are there self-hostable whiteboarding tools that are comparable in functionality?

  5. @infil00p I didn't have a word for it for years, but I'm a very good pair programmer. I can make almost anyone more than twice as productive as they were alone, if they can work with another human.

This was recognized and properly rewarded only once in my career (at Qualcomm).

That is all it took for me to see that #whiteboarding completely filters people like me out.

Now I do pair programming as part of work at my own company, and try to keep an eye out for others like me.

  6. Had a great session with my students today in AP CSP through Microsoft TEALS. Working to inspire the next generation of technologists.

We're starting arrays (which code.org calls lists), and was able to walk through the code to logically show how you manage reading the array and use it with conditional logic they've already learned to do more with their apps. Love seeing the lightbulbs go off. #edtech #whiteboarding #programming

  7. My Problem now is that it is just too widespread to keep physically #whiteboarding. I need a #secure way to get it either on my #machine or in the #cloud. Thinking of finding a visio #alternative, then #syncing it to an #encrypted #onedrive folder. #ideas? #network #planning
