Hoy un #viernesdeescritorio algo distinto, porque doy por concluido mi proyecto de #upgrade de mi #thinkpad #T440p:

- Pantalla IPS 1080p
- SSD 512 GB
- Caddy de DVD reemplazado por un caddy de HDD (SSD extra de 512 GB)
- Procesador actualizado a un i7-4712MQ
- Pasta térmica Grizzly Kryonaut
- Teclado US reemplazado por otro con layout ES (original, de eBay)
- RAM actualizada a 12 GB
- Batería original de 9 celdas nueva

Todavía tardará en llegarme pero se viene otro portátil a casa

Got the replacement screen for my #thinkpad #T440p (highly recommend laptopscreen.com, first screen showed a dead pixel in the return window and they exchanged it no questions asked) and threw in a dual band 7260 wifi card while I was at it.

Boy, if I thought the FHD screen was a big upgrade, so is the wifi card! The difference is night and day! 10x faster download speeds!!! And it cost all of $5.

No better machine for #archlinux and #kde.

Even if KDE is visually much nicer and requires less resources - I am also just a very old creature of habit. I'm back on Team GNOME. At least on my desktop.

On my Thinkpad T440p (after years still my daily mobile driver) KDE is still the better choice to work clearly and well on the go.

Totally agree @freemo ! But #Linux #compatibility is higher on #Thinkpad more than #Ideapad or lower tiers models ^^
This said, compatibility is anyway higher than other #brands :3
I have a #T440p and a ideapag gaming with amd... and only have problems with the latter which has no #driver to regulate the brightness HW level, must regulate by adjusting the gamma value via script and same for the battery which has no fine control on the charge level as Thinkpad models have, i.e. start charging at 70% and stop at 75%. On the ideapad I can only manually set the charge to stop charging at 50% or 100% u.u

Macht Spaß, wenn das ThinkPad #T440P Base Cover mit Widerhaken gesichert ist und davon nichts im Lenovo HMM steht. Und genau zu dem Modell gibt es dann kein Support Video von Lenovo, im Gegensatz zu allen anderen T440*-Modellen.
Naja, immerhin ist die Freude umso größer, wenn man es dann geschafft hat, das Ding abzumontieren (wofür man übrigens so gut wie alle Komponenten bis auf das Mainboard selbst & das Display ausbauen muss).

Was ganz cool ist: Das ThinkPad #T440P wird seit ca. 20 Tagen von #Skulls unterstützt:

Also ein eingermaßen aktuelles, aber trotzdem preiswertes und gebraucht zu bekommendes Notebook, auf das man (scheinbar?) mit machbarem Aufwand ein #FOSS BIOS bekommen kann (#Coreboot).
