A little tip from the countryside: don't put your hair & beard in the garbage when you trim & shave, some birds will gladly use it to build their nest.
Because #birds are cool, and that's a fact.

I set up a #ghost blog as a secondary publishing solution for Synergetic Design, since #Substack has its downside regarding privacy.
You will find it here: https://www.synergetic-design.com/
I'll try to keep it as tidy and up to date as i can.🫡

The aim is to improve thermal flows management within our buildings.

Pretty happy with :
https://darkreader.org/The question of reading comfort on the Internet is indeed a browser one, not a website per website one.
-
New article about our skills and how they can help us building new designs and live a happier life:
https://synergeticdesign.substack.com/p/the-synergy-of-our-skills
I also talk about the way the current economic model influences how we develop our skills and why this is not necessary good news.

New article about a local initiative in which I am sometimes involved and that works with no currency involved at all:
-
Currently studying #humandesign.
If anyone wants to share some comment, please do. I am always interested in testimonies as long as they are genuine.
I am studying it to see how it can help in creating designs for people. It could be an important part of the preliminary context work needed for any #design.
-
A quite extensive article about communities and why they fail:
https://synergeticdesign.substack.com/p/why-do-communities-failAs I tend to replace #design in the context of #identity, the notions of #community and #culture are central. Some of my work consists in understanding their dynamics and their problematics.

I am always looking for projects whose aim is to redesign our human world in a different way to ensure a better future for everyone (happier, freer, more efficient, more sustainable). This is what I call #synergeticdesign and it is of course in relation with #nature, #science, #society and #technology.
If you know any initiative that is striving to such ideal in a 100% constructive way, please do share the relevant links under my message. That would be highly appreciated!

I changed the logo of my Synergetic Design page. I was not happy with the previous ones but now I am quite satisfied. I did it with #Inkscape.

An interesting initiative about ancient tech and design:
https://paleo-energetique.org/en/
The aim is to dig in the past to sort out relevant solutions for today issues and concerns.
Some stories are really cool. Hopefully, some of them could end up in practical solutions for our everyday life.

Don't kill your neighbour (yet) - Analysis of an antagonistic phenomenon
https://synergeticdesign.substack.com/p/dont-kill-your-neighbour-yet
Here I talk about the binary mindset that is litterally destroying our societies.
No interesting design can come out of such a way of dealing with reality. That is why I shared my thoughts about it.
-
My last article is about power, design, ability to decide what's best and what we genuinely want individually and collectively:
https://synergeticdesign.substack.com/p/do-people-know-what-they-want
It is quite long, but I think this is a necessary work to deal with how we do, promote and, in some cases, impose things.
-
https://synergeticdesign.substack.com/p/towards-an-analog-world
Proposal to put analog technology back at the center of our lives.
-
The widespread habit among scientists intervening in the media to think of the impact of human beings on the environment in terms of watts or pollution is fallacious. Only the estimation of the degree of synergy of human activities can give an intelligible indication of their possible consequences. However, this estimation is extremely difficult to achieve because it requires taking into account thousands of factors.

New article about data management, including proposals of no-data and vectorial data paradigms:
https://synergeticdesign.substack.com/p/data-minimalism-no-data-and-vectorial
Vectorial data management is a proposal to consider data as dynamical functions and not objects to ease our designs, works and reduce the data needed (like the vectorial vs raster approach in image management).

Here I extend my reflections about currencies and how to deal with inflation, market manipulation and large-scale trade:
https://synergeticdesign.substack.com/p/inflation-deflation-market-manipulation
In short:
- use of a "pure currency" (whose use does not influence its functioning) in our trusted networks (offline and online)
- capitalization by immediate value (seeds, animals, metals, material, etc.)
- use of barter in untrusted networks (including optional standards like gold or silver) -
I go a step deeper in my reflections about the nature of money in this article:
https://synergeticdesign.substack.com/p/reflections-on-the-nature-of-money
I think the notion of trust is misplaced in our current time about money. Maybe it is time to change our vision of the subject.
-
Another article about libre currencies:
https://synergeticdesign.substack.com/p/libre-currencies-comparison-between -
We often talk about #bigdata and what seems to be its opposite: #opendata. But both are not so far away from each other, because data in the hands of everyone doesn't mean that everything will magically go fine.
May I suggest something else: the #nodata approach. It's the simple choice of not gathering or using data at all. Not very trendy right? However, I think that a true form of freedom lies in it, something that cannot be obtain in any other way.
-
I am frankly puzzled by the recent choices made by many libre currency devs to keep going with the idea of a worldwide internet free of access.
Recent events have shown that we should on contrary focus on local and resilient solutions.
Libre currency in itself can work offline so why not push in that direction, I don't get it.

I wrote an article about contextualization:
https://synergeticdesign.substack.com/p/the-art-of-contextI'll probably never talk too much about it since it is a field globally deserted, very badly used, and it shows!
#design #synergeticdesign #contextualization #designofknowledge

An especially quite long article about the synergetic design of knowledge:
https://synergeticdesign.substack.com/p/the-design-of-knowledgeA summary is available at the beginning of it for people in a hurry.
-
Once again, SEO is destroying internet search. I estimate that 1 in 2 of my searches now either go nowhere or take more than 15 minutes of sorting to find the links that actually serve a purpose. And it's getting worse and worse. Having a paper encyclopaedia at home is becoming again the most efficient and reliable way to answer a question as long as the subject lies in it.

I should create a bot that reminds it every week: if you want your publications to be used and trusted, DATE THEM!
Every content needs a context to be properly understood and used. Dating a work is part of the basics.

Wörgl is an Austrian town that has successfully experimented in 1932 an alternative form of exchange with a local currency.
A movie has been made about this story that you can watch here:
https://yewtu.be/watch?v=6Uz4PRWr3ns
The English subtitles are not very accurate but it is easy to understand the dialogs nonetheless.
The experiment of Wörgl has been inspired by the work of Silvio Gesell:
