Bumped into a friend and we've been texting each other for the past week with neither of us receiving the other's messages. She's on iPhone and I'm on Android. We both pay our bills...so...is it OUR FUCKING JOB to figure out why we can't talk to each other anymore?

And while my gut reaction is "Why does the world's biggest tech company have such shitty #UX designers?", reality quickly kicks in.
It's the same reason #Amazon makes its "Add to list" button text-only and as small and inconspicuous as fuck.
Obfuscation is a design principle.

One of those "Yes" and "Maybe later" harassment choice popups, but clicking "later" actually installs a system notification to pester you at a random time in the future, even when you've long forgotten about the originating website.
Don't thank me for that idea.

I gotta say, they really sh*t the bed on this #redesign. It's #TERRIBLE. It's huge, it's #slow, and like way too many new designs these days, it wastes an inordinate amount of the available screen space, so it's hardly showing you any actual content at all.
The old feed was approximately 237 times more useful than the new design. Give or take.

Some printers have large-capacity trays that take a full ream [1] or even more; I have one. They're usually optional for workgroup-type printers; I've seen them as standard equipment on the really big ones. One I saw held 1,500 sheets in a single tray, and it had multiple trays that size.
You'll never see them on a consumer or single-user printer. *Those* trays just seem to get smaller over time.
1. Don't get me started on companies selling 400-sheet "reams".

I've long believed that part of Apple's perceived ease of use derives from users having learned Apple interfaces. Some UI issues in Mac OS and iOS are simply overlooked by long-time users.
But Windows is a whole other universe of pain. Most Apple users also have some familiarity with Windows from work or school. And after decades of experience, I've become so used to wiping and configuring new Windows computers, that I sometimes forget how truly new users struggle.

Last evening I spent over an hour troubleshooting a friend's new Windows laptop. And I was reminded how terrible the Windows experience is for first time users.
My friend only uses Apple products, so this was their first time using Windows.
After just a few days, their brand new laptop had become smothered in popups, useless startup programs, broken visual themes, and other junk.
And I was unable to fix their problem. They are considering resetting the computer.

#Google Photos is incapable of batch downloading files to windows it seems. I've tried chrome, firefox, edge. I've turned off antivirus and done a bunch of other supposed fixes. The 400 mb download always fails around 50 mb in. Just insane for a product with this many users to fail so badly.
