Finally got momentum on the redesigned I planned for Maps for GNOME 50, redesigning the sidebar a bit (taking a bit inspiration from Nucleus) with the aim of ultimatly it use an AdwMultiLayoutView using a bottom sheet in narrow/mobile mode. And showing place info in there as well…

Right now in a state of a bit "first break it, then fix it"… 😄

Nadchodzi rewolucja w Google Home. Nowy design i Gemini trafiają do aplikacji

Google rozpoczęło udostępnianie dużej aktualizacji aplikacji Home, która stanowi centrum zarządzania inteligentnym domem.

Użytkownicy iPhone’ów, zwłaszcza ci w programie publicznych testów, jako pierwsi mogą zobaczyć całkowicie przeprojektowany interfejs. Najważniejszą nowością jest jednak integracja z modelem AI Gemini w ramach nowej funkcji „Ask Home”.

Uproszczony interfejs i nowy wygląd

Pierwszą rzeczą, która rzuca się w oczy, jest nowa, bardziej zaokrąglona ikona aplikacji z gradientowymi kolorami, nawiązująca do stylistyki Gemini. Po uruchomieniu wita nas uproszczony, trzyzakładkowy układ: Home („Dom”), Activity („Aktywność”) i Automations („Automatyzacje”).

Zniknęła więc dotychczasowa zakładka ustawień, które przeniesiono do menu konta. Na górze ekranu dominuje teraz nowy pasek „Ask [nazwa domu]”, który jest bramą do interakcji z asystentem AI zintegrowanym z nową wersją aplikacji Home.

„Ask Home”, czyli Gemini wkracza do domu

Centralnym punktem aktualizacji jest funkcja „Ask Home”. Po jej aktywacji użytkownik trafia do interfejsu czatu z karuzelą urządzeń. Jak informuje 9to5Google (Amerykanie otrzymali aktualizację jako pierwsi), na razie, w obecnej fazie wdrażania, funkcja działa głównie jako zaawansowana wyszukiwarka – wpisując zapytanie, można szybko znaleźć urządzenia, akcje czy automatyzacje. Google informuje jednak, że bardziej zaawansowane, konwersacyjne możliwości „nie są jeszcze gotowe”, a ich pełne uruchomienie nastąpi prawdopodobnie po oficjalnej zapowiedzi 1 października, o której to zapowiedzi już was informowaliśmy.

Google Gemini for Home startuje 1 października

Z dokumentacji wynika, że „Gemini for Home” wprowadzi kilka istotnych zmian. Nowością będzie funkcja „Gemini Live”, dzięki której mikrofon pozostanie aktywny przez chwilę po zadaniu pytania, aby umożliwić zadawanie kolejnych bez ponownego mówienia „Hej Google”. Asystent pozwoli także członkom gospodarstwa domowego z włączoną funkcją Voice Match na głosowe przeszukiwanie historii nagrań z kompatybilnych kamer i dzwonków wideo.

Aktualizacja oznaczona numerem 4.0.54 jest na razie udostępniana dla użytkowników systemu iOS. Można się spodziewać, że wkrótce po oficjalnej prezentacji trafi również do posiadaczy urządzeń z Androidem. Wszystko wskazuje na to, że Google szykuje grunt pod głębszą integrację sztucznej inteligencji z codziennym zarządzaniem inteligentnym domem, oczywiście w Polsce ze względu na barierę językową, a także fakt, że jesteśmy w UE, nowe funkcje otrzymamy później.

Here is proof! On my 60th Birthday trip, she went from 99K to 100 and has many more miles to roll. Blaze has been so happy since we found (at around 60K) the source of the battery drain. Just normal wear & maintenance; most recently replacing front suspension.
