Holy shit, #Valve just announced a built-into #Steam #game recording feature on PCs and also on #SteamDeck - we've been asking for this and they've delivered (very quickly, in Valve's books)!!!

It's pretty feature packed too - sporting a timeline which shows highlights of in-game events happening including Steam achievements and when you take a screenshot, a Replay feature, you could also create short Clips from the raw recording, and a Save/Share menu to easily export or share your clips between devices or to friends in Chat.

The recording is done automatically in the background when you start a game based on the predefined quality and storage limit you've set (it'll overwrite old recordings as you go past the limit), or you can also record on demand. This new Game Recording feature will work with any game that does not disable the Steam Overlay, and has minimal CPU usage as it supports hardware acceleration with #AMD/#NVIDIA GPUs. Interesting to see how it fares on the Steam Deck's APU though.

That's 2 super interesting features now currently cooking in Steam Beta, including the (revamped) #SteamFamilies announced some months ago. I'm not a Beta kind of person when it comes to Steam (or just in general), but I'm looking forward to when these land on Stable.
