  1. I've mentioned the great streaming Friday night jazz on SFJazz.org. This month is Jazz Appreciation month, and SFJazz is offering free access for 7 days this month.

  2. Super excited for my trip to #SF next month !

Got a few gigs to go to for the Miles Davis centennial put in by #SFJazz. Going to see peaches, and hell I might even buy myself a #bass if the right one comes along :)

  3. Broadway World: SFJAZZ Unveils Public Access to Historical Archive. “SFJAZZ has revealed public access to the SFJAZZ Historical Archive, an expansive collection of more than 2,000 recordings from 1983–2012, showcasing world premieres, unique commissions, panel discussions, pre-concert talks, TV & radio interviews, and more, all from the years before the opening of the standalone SFJAZZ […]

  4. Along with devastating cuts to numerous govt agencies and relief programs, it should come as no surprise that #DJT admin's ugly cuts to #NEA grants were coming. The severance of support to #arts charities and non profit agencies were made official last week, ending previous grant$ from the #NationalEndowment for the Arts and longstanding annual committments are effectively canceled, almost immediately.

The grant cancellations are particularly dire for arts organizations for which NEA funding may constitute the bulk of a project's budget.

In #SFBayArea , the cut$ include support for the #LGBTQ centric #Frameline #FilmFestival, #SFJAZZ, #Berkeley Rep, Women’s Audio Mission, #American Conservatory #Theater, #TheLab, San Francisco International #Arts #Festival and many many more worthy recipients. Most of these iconic and dedicated organizations will of course be able to continue their track record of creativity and community service, but will be seeking more fiscal signs of support from local sources than ever before and encourage patrons to get personally connected.

  5. Trump Cancels NEA Grants for Many Bay Area Arts Nonprofits | KQED

    > The cancellations affect a wide range of Bay Area #arts organizations, including Berkeley Repertory Theatre, the Frameline film festival, #SFJAZZ and #TheLab. The emails stated that “the #NEA is updating its grantmaking policy priorities to focus funding on projects that reflect the nation’s rich artistic heritage and creativity as prioritized by the President.”

  6. At #SFJAZZ for
Etienne Charles and ensemble 🎺. Part of birthday weekend celebration. 😻

  7. For less than the price of a concert ticket, you can join #SFJazz from anywhere and access the entire library anytime. You also are invited to live concerts like this one. Great stills from Spike Lee’s film, When The Levees Broke, for which Mr Blanchard wrote the score.

  8. Requiem and Prayers. Watching and listening to Terence Blanchard with E-Collective and Turtle Island Quartet in concert at SF Jazz. Mr. Blanchard is now the artistic director of #SFJazz #composers #inconcert sfjazz.org/athome/fridays-live

  9. Absolutely beside myself, having finally seen Kid Koala's Nufonia Must Fall, met the artist, and gotten a private sneak preview of an unfinished track from the third Deltron 3030 album 🤩

Also, first time at SFJAZZ *and* they were the only venue to welcome both Nufonia Must Fall and The Storyville Mosquito (his other show), which plays next weekend -- and is a must see.

  11. At #SFJAZZ to see Steven Bernstein’s Millennial Territory Orchestra in the fish bowl 🎺

  12. Off to #SFJAZZ to see Theon Cross and his band. Quite unusual to encounter a jazz tuba player, let alone a jazz tuba bandleader. 🎶

  13. #MeshellNdegeocello live at Miner auditorium at #SFJazz tonight was sublime. My only problem was that an hour and a half the set was too short. #jazz #soul #livemusic

  14. Two shows on deck for tonight! First #SFJAZZ, then Outsound's SIMM series. #SF

  15. At #SFJAZZ. Just heard a great set by Marc Guiliana Beat Music. Next up Donny McCaslin. 🎷🥁🎹🎸🎶

  16. That was a hard set. I like watching performers. Seeing how they work. How they breathe, stretch for a phrase. And there were songs on her set list that were hard AF. She pushed tonight.

    You'll See.
    Skylark. (Oof)
    Comes Love.
Waters of March. (The vast container of oxygen you need for this one.)
Like a Rolling Stone (I hate Dylan but her cover i'll listen to)

She got the hiccups in the middle of one song. How she powered through that, I don't know. And her band!! They are so good. I enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed her.

Paula West is among the best. It was great to see her -- and her fans. They all love her so.

Also, Samara Joy is in town for JazzFest.

  17. RIP #AhmadJamal - I loved seeing him at #SFJazz in 2019 - and how he’d point at his bandmembers when he wanted them to step up. Hilarious and awesome. #jazz
