Although I plan on using the molten #Shibuichi in a #sandcasting, I'm also considering making sheets of it with my rolling mill for earrings. I once bought a small sheet from Rio Grande, my jewelry supplier, and it was cheaper than Sterling, but now sheets of Shibuichi are twice the price of Sterling. There are some neat patina effects possible. (3/3)

I really need to stress what an incredible learning tool #YouTube can be. If you recall, I have a new interest in #sandcasting to make #jewelry. Because silver is so expensive and because I have a lot of scrap copper and silver, I've decided I want to cast pieces in #Shibuichi, a Japanese alloy of 75% copper +25% silver. (Or 80%/20%, depending on your source.) That means measuring out my scrap metal properly and melting it down together. (1/3)

I just signed up for a sandcasting class at the Tacoma Metal Arts Center. That's where I first learned a lot of the #silversmithing skills I've got. They have some really great classes. I've been wanting to try #sandcasting for a while.
