I'm loving the system, but I'm often surprised that some basic, seemingly obvious things are missing in #HomeAssistant.

Eg, dashboards can display a simple image from a camera or web page where a cam might be posting. But there's no rotate. Such a basic thing.

I keep hoping I'm just missing it, but discussion threads seem to say not.

"Oh you just have to redo the software that serves the image or runs the camera instead." Ugh.

#Reolink setup doesn't seem to offer it either. :(

Ok, after some trial and error with ~4 #Tapo cameras, known experience with some other cameras (particularly #Eufy), research on some other (popular) cameras like #Reolink, I've found the perfect camera setup - particularly for #HomeAssistant, honestly. This specific situation is for my bedroom, but I don't see why this wouldn't be applicable for outdoors too.

I initially had the Tapo TC70 - this is like the cheapest cam they have, maybe like 70 bucks (MYR) or smtg? Even at that price, it has the full feature set you'd need like RTSP (for livestreams on HA), ONVIF for motion detection notifications/triggers, and PTZ for controlling the camera (L,R,U,D). Its detection is more basic - Human and Motion, but it's completely local. It has other nice features like local recording to SD card/hub (tho I don't have the hub so I won't expand on that), and media sync, which is useful for syncing recordings it has on the SD card to my Home Assistant's media storage (which is on my #NAS). Everything works perfectly even with this cheap camera. I also never had any complaints about its 1080p footage. I initially used this as like the general 'catch-all' camera for my room to see what goes on room-wide and where my cats are when I'm away.

Then I got the Tapo C425 - a much more expensive camera than the TC70. The camera quality's amazing, the magnetic mount is perfect (same as the outdoor Eufy cams I have), it too has local recording and media sync feature. I bought this bcos I initially didn't have a power outlet at the location I wanted to use this for, and this cam is battery/solar powered that's rated for '300 days on batt'. I then learned how much features you're losing out, Home Assistant-wise, if you wish to use a battery-powered cam. No RTSP, so no live streams - only snapshots on HA. No ONVIF, so I had to rely on the media sync as the trigger for motion detection notifs (i.e. when a new footage gets synced to my NAS = a motion detection occurred). Continuous recording's also not an option. It has the spotlight/sensor to be able to capture dark scenes in colour tho, which was nice and important for me, as I planned to use this to capture my cat's litter box and monitor his stool. The battery sucks ass tho, perhaps bcos of how I was integrating it to HA - cos it only lasted me 4 days from full charge.

If you have a #reolink camera and a regular home hub that does not allow you to configure it on the web view, you can probably just run `window.ControllerMain.showConfigPage()` to show the config page.

Finally UID is disabled (I've had my router block WAN requests for reolink cameras, but it still spams), and NTP now works.

@irfan i'm using #Reolink rlc-410w, rlc-510wa and the video door bell. I use https://docs.scrypted.app as an intermediate layer.

Anybody experienced with #Reolink cams on #HomeAssistant? Or anyone has used their #Argus 3E cam - is it any good? How’s the detection reliability and battery life? Kinda nuts how I could not find a single review of the 3E. The 3 Ultra n wtnot looks too OP for what I essentially wanna do - capture my cat’s stool lol.

Tradycyjne kamery do monitoringu posesji mają jedną zasadniczą wadę – jeśli obejmują szeroki kadr, tracą na szczegółowości detali. Z kolei statyczne zbliżenie pozbawia nas szerszego kontekstu.

Reolink postanowił rozwiązać ten inżynieryjny problem, wprowadzając do oferty serię kamer OMVI z trzema zintegrowanymi obiektywami. Co równie istotne, producent nadal odcina się od irytującego trendu wymuszania płatnych subskrypcji za inteligentne powiadomienia.

Panoramiczny podgląd i śledzenie w jednym

Nowa linia OMVI opiera się na bardzo praktycznym rozwiązaniu. Urządzenia łączą dwuobiektywową kamerę panoramiczną z dolnym, w pełni ruchomym obiektywem (PTZ). W praktyce oznacza to, że dzięki funkcji SyncTrack, gdy górne sensory wykryją ruch, dolny obiektyw automatycznie kieruje się na cel i płynnie podąża za nim po monitorowanym terenie, przybliżając obraz i zachowując idealną ostrość.

Całość wspierana jest przez lokalną sztuczną inteligencję, która sprawnie filtruje fałszywe alarmy i rozpoznaje obiekty. Kluczowy dla wielu użytkowników będzie fakt, że nagrania można zapisywać na kartach microSD (do 512 GB) lub podpiętych rejestratorach NVR. Żadna z zaawansowanych funkcji śledzenia i kategoryzacji obiektów nie wymaga opłacania miesięcznego abonamentu w chmurze.

Od domowego monitoringu po 16-krotny zoom

Podstawowe modele z nowej oferty to OMVI 3i w wersjach PoE (zasilanie po kablu sieciowym) oraz Wi-Fi. Urządzenia oferują łączną rozdzielczość 18 MP. Prawdziwym potworem w ofercie jest jednak flagowa kamera OMVI X16 PoE o rozdzielczości 24 MP.

Ten model został wyposażony w obiektyw z 16-krotnym zoomem optycznym, co pozwala na wyraźne odczytanie tablic rejestracyjnych czy twarzy z bardzo dużej odległości, bez utraty jakości typowej dla zoomu cyfrowego.

Dziewięć miesięcy na jednym ładowaniu

Równolegle na rynek trafia seria sprzętu Power-Efficient, nastawiona na maksymalny czas pracy na zasilaniu bateryjnym. Reolink zacieśnił współpracę z marką Qualcomm, wykorzystując jej nowe układy Wi-Fi QCC730, które drastycznie redukują zużycie energii. Efektem tej integracji jest między innymi Argus MagiCam – malutka, bezprzewodowa kamera z magnetycznym mocowaniem, która na jednym zestawie baterii potrafi pracować nawet do dziewięciu miesięcy.

Wkrótce dołączy do niej także wideodomofon drugiej generacji. Sprzęt zaoferuje baterię wytrzymującą do 10 miesięcy oraz funkcję lokalnego rozpoznawania nie tylko ludzi i pojazdów, ale również kurierskich paczek pozostawionych pod drzwiami.

Ceny i dostępność

Podstawowa kamera OMVI 3i PoE debiutuje właśnie na rynku w cenie 289,99 euro. Wersja z modułem Wi-Fi trafi do sklepów w lipcu i będzie kosztować 299,99 euro. Za najbardziej zaawansowany model X16 PoE trzeba będzie zapłacić w trzecim kwartale tego roku około 450-550 dolarów. Z kolei miniaturowa, bateryjna kamera Argus MagiCam została wyceniona na 54,99 euro.

After about 20 minutes, my new Reolink camera is now integrated with go2rtc, frigate and Home Assistant, most of which was spent connectin the camera to a LAN port (despicably hard to reach in my home) for inital setup.

I want to say, this was almost fun!

I replaced the unit with a #Reolink light/cam. It integrates very nicely with #HomeAssistant.

The old unit was full of actual bugs – bug carcasses that is. Also turns out to be a flood and a camera combo as well, but without a network connection, and the media slot was empty. Not so useful up at roof height.

Trying to remember my old media card standards. Bigger than a full sized SDcard, but smaller than PCMCIA…

CompactFlash? Something like that.

Den HomeHub von #Reolink kann man auch komplett ohne #Cloud in einem abgeschotteten Subnetz betreiben und in #HomeAssistant integrieren.

Die passenden Kameras haben einen Privat-Modus, in dem sie sich wegdrehen und nicht aufzeichnen.

Damit lässt sich Kamera-basierter #Einbruchsschutz im eigenen Heim bequem und #Datenschutz-freundlich realisieren.
