La obra de David Eugene Edwards en 16 Horsepower y Wovenhand me parece imprescindible y altamente infravalorada. En esa colina moriré, tosolo. Además creo que es música que puede ser del agrado de casi todo el mundo: me parece que le puede gustar tanto al fan de Tom Waits como al shoegacero más indie, pasando por gente que disfrute del rock de raíces folk y country, americana o rock alternativo de diverso pelaje.

Para mi gusto tiene discos posteriores mejores, más dinámicos y variados, pero este debut es una belleza minimalista impresionante. La sensación es la de un latido mesiánico y alucinado, cantos telúricos que conectan la tierra de los nativos norteamericanos con la new wave punkarra más alternativa.

Me ha entrado muy bien este disco de post-hardcore con mucho detalle por todas partes. Es rabioso en todo momento, pero puntualmente ofrece sus ganchitos pop, atmósferas guitarreras post-punk o desarrollos propios del rock alternativo.

Leo que por lo visto cambiaron de rumbo en discos posteriores. No creo que sea para mal, me quedo con ganas de seguir.

Uno de esos discos fundamentales en la historia del rock que, sin embargo, se hace un poco bola hoy en día.

Todavía resulta demasiado deudor de las estructuras más clásicas del blues y el rock&roll primigenio y además tiene las típicas experimentaciones en estéreo fallidas de esos años (aunque no tan atroces como las de los Beatles).

También sigue la tendencia de la época de incluir varias versiones de sus héroes del blues y muchas canciones compuestas por los productores.

Con todo y con eso, ahí queda uno de los riffs más importantes y revolucionarios de la historia y un montón de detalles en cada tema de una banda que tocaba del copón y que ya empezaba a despegarse del clasicismo del rithm&blues para hacer algo genuinamente nuevo: todas las canciones tienen un aura protopunk muy guapa.

A raíz del artículo que enlazo abajo de @rockdelux.com , estoy oyendo el último disco de los Dinosaur Jr y no me puede gustar más. Es como volver a una casa antigua y ya conocida, pero qué casa. No suelen gustarme los discos nuevos de grupos antiguos. Este sí.

Le he dado un tiento al nuevo de Mastodon, que debería ser la banda fetiche del fedi:

En una primera escucha, me ha parecido un poco caótico y más largo que un día sin tabaco. Creo que han perdido bastante el rumbo sobre lo que quieren hacer. Los riffs no tienen la gracia que tenían antes, pero eso es muy difícil de mantener en el tiempo. Y yo echo de menos al barbudo loco, con su voz apretada y sus arreglos psycocountries.

Vuelven a su sonido clásico, mucho más transparente que el de su anterior trabajo. Esto gustará a mucha gente, pero a mí ese rollo oscurillo me motivaba como cambio de rumbo, una pena.

Como punto positivo, siguen teniendo un estilo único bastante reconocible. Espero que me vaya entrando mejor en sucesivas escuchas, con Mastodon suele ocurrir.

Este disco es todo lo que musicalmente podían haber sido los 80 en España si les quitáramos la pose y la frivolidad. Puro sonido mediterráneo con músicos buenísimos. Hasta los solos de saxo suenan maravillosos. Tengo el riff de "Estimada germana" metido en la cabeza en bucle.

¿Qué sentido tiene hacer esto? Anna Netrebko es una cantante maravillosa y no necesita para nada esto, que es insultante.
Ya, ya sé que #patriarcado pero es que, además, es el Teatro Real y se supone que es uno de los templos de la cultura.

@thiegui @sevennorth @juanlo @ramirenko yeah!! me apunto al jastag 😃 Por cierto, comentar que la idea inicial promovida por @philspectrum (que fue quien nos arrastró a algunos hasta allí) era proponer a #recordclub que implementaran ActivityPub para así ser parte del fedi. Pero yo creo que cuando leyeron nuestras propuestas pensaron: ¿de dónde han salido estos taraos?

@juanlo @ramirenko @pabs @thiegui no, perdón, a veces suponemos que todos sabemos movidas que no hay porqué saber. Os he puesto como ejemplo la de las plantas porque (almohadilla)plantodon funciona guay. Algo así. Elegir una y empezar a usarla nosotros y que se vaya sumando gente. Podemos usar #recordclub en homenaje a la app que no usamos (yo también tengo cuenta y tampoco entro)

Estaría bien que en record.club se pudieran calificar canciones, y no solo discos enteros. Es una buena manera de tener un registro de lo que escuchas y te gustó.
