City staff and Councilor Oschrin attended the National Association of City Transportation Officials this year. I find them an essential resource here in congested, car-dependent North America. I remember when I was the only one here talking about NACTO best practice and now I am learning about the newest and best methods from city staff. We have come a long way in just a few years here. #NACTO https://nacto.org/our-work/

Good timing for NACTO (an association of North American #cities and #transit agencies formed to exchange #transportation ideas, insights, and practices and cooperatively approach national transportation issues) to have its 2026 Designing Cities conference in #Minneapolis, May 12-15. https://events.bizzabo.com/designingcities2026?mc_cid=7556cbed44&mc_eid=9ab2822fa2
As Thomas L. Friedman suggested in March 15 column “Why Minnesota Matters More Than Iran for America’s Future”:
"For anyone outside of #Minnesota who wants to help, the best thing you can do is #vacation in the #TwinCities or hold your next #convention here.”

New report from #NACTO shows how "Shared #micromobility has proven itself to have ... value as a resilient and essential part of our transportation systems."
Currently, most US systems try to cover whole cities with 1,000 or fewer bikes. Empty bike racks often end up frustrating people who cannot complete trips.
Soon, city leaders will wake up to #bikeshare as a low-cost, effective way to address climate and equity, and the bikeshare systems of many cities will grow.
