#mullbrowser — Public Fediverse posts

Live and recent posts from across the Fediverse tagged #mullbrowser, aggregated by home.social.

  1. Mobile browser update: extensions became inoperative in/on #WaterfoxBrowser, so I switched to #MullBrowser, in/on which the extensions I use habitually work without incompatibility issues

Oddly(?) enough, this coincided with a similar issue with the desktop #LibreWolf running on #Manjaro.

    Happy "private" browsing! :vulcan_hmn_g1:!

Long live the #ironfox :ironman: :firefox:

Pode ser descarregado em vários sítios, inclusive no @fdroidorg, mas é pena não estar no repositório oficial.

  3. PSA if you use Mull (the privacy hardened Firefox/Fennec fork) on Android, or any of the other apps maintained by DivestOS: It is now dead. web.archive.org/web/2025011519

There is a fork called IronFox. Unfortunately it is not in the official F-Droid repository, and I don't think they have reproducible builds, either :(

  4. Sad to see that #MullBrowser, the privacy-oriented fork of #Firefox for #Android, has been abandoned.

  5. I recently changed from #fennec to #mullbrowser but now #fdroid is telling me to use #fennec because mullbrowser is not developed anymore. Does somebody knows, why the development was stopped? #security

  6. @GreyLinux
Sticking with #Iceraven on Android (via APK install). #Librewolf, which I now use on Linux, has no Android version and they suggest #MullBrowser (via Fdroid) but it wouldn't sync for me.

As for email I use the #Betterbird soft fork of #Thunderbird on #Linux (easier to set up for windows, btw) and the excellent #FairEmail on #Android.

  8. @fdroidorg
Wow, so #MullBrowser will be discontinued as well (together with the whole #DivestOS project), that's bad news 😕 Everyone can switch to #FennecBrowser as an alternative FF build.
    #Firefox

  9. Continuing this thread from two months ago.

I think I found my #Firefox replacements. For #Android this is now #MullBrowser by @mullvadnet. I used #Fennec before, but suddenly it had update issues, so I switched. For #Linux desktop I think I'm going to switch to @zenbrowser. Although still in alpha, it's really usable. Only small issue is that there are no Debian/Ubuntu packages (.deb) available, so I have to use AppImage (that I don't like). Flatpak is also available, but not as an optimised build. Anyway, I'm going to remove all other forks from my system, and use #ZenBrowser in parallel with stock Firefox for a while. Hopefully they will go in beta soon.

Enjoy!

  11. I'm using #MullBrowser on my #Fairphone 3 with #LineageOS and for the past few weeks or so #FDroid told me that Mull was insecure, because its based on an older version of #Firefox and hasn't implemented some important security updates yet.
Now F-Droid no longer tells me that, although there was no update. What does that mean?
Is it still insecure to use Mull?
    Was it a false alarm?
Did the security issues get fixed some other way?

  12. Thanks to the direction I've received from @Sunnysouth, now I see a patched #MullBrowser dating October 14. It is enough to open this through F-Droid and install Mull 131.0.3 (or later):

    divestos.org/apks/official/fdr

If anyone is getting a warning to remove #Mull on Android, it's coming from the outdated versions of Mull (128.0.3 or earlier) on official #FDroid repository, preceding the disclosure of the 0-day vulnerability. Uninstall that one and proceed to the link above. Set the repo as preferred right there and "Install" button will popup. Of course, as always, make sure to carefully develop a faith in audits or do one yourself.

In any case, this experience will do without pink glasses, unlike continuing with Mozilla's vision of the #Firefox. And, if you're more of a Chromium homie, #DivestOS repository has got you covered with #Mulch browser, so go check that out.

  14. Mull 131.0.0-1 is up with fourteen + one + twenty-five security fixes, please update!

This is the first release since our previously released 129.0.2 due to a compilation issue introduced during 130. In order to resolve the issue, Mull is now compiled using Mozilla's prebuilt clang toolchain. This however is incompatible with the F-Droid.org inclusion criteria, so these updates (for now at least) will only be available via the DivestOS.org F-Droid repository. Please note, while this adds a prebuilt dependency, the result does still remain FOSS.

For those not counting, this was a twenty-nine day delay for 130 and a one day delay for 131.

  15. Can anyone tell me why my #MullBrowser's time (probably time zone) is set to -2 hours compared to my Android system's time or how I can change that? I can't find it in the settings...

  16. Random tip:

In the about:config for #Firefox and its desktop forks like #LibreWolf, "browser.ml.chat.enabled" can be set to "false". The browser.ml.chat prompts there can be deleted.

I'm not sure if removing the prompts helps anything, but it can feel good to clear them out.

This was kindly done for us regular users in mobile forks like #Fennec and #MullBrowser.

  17. @huwfulcher I recently installed LineageOS for microG on my S6 Lite (Wifi). It works like a charm, it even gets OTA updates. I use #Saber for hand writing notes, #MullBrowser, #NewPipe and Xtra for YouTube and Twitch, Breezy Weather and #OrganicMaps. #DAVx5 is nice if you want to synchronize calendars or contacts and #MuPDF to open PDFs.

  19. Though I an using the #IceRaven browser, the article has gotten me thinking of looking at the #MullBrowser a little closer.

I have been using #DuckDuckGoBrowser for search and quick article reads, #Vanadium for anything I want to log into or keep session cookies, and IceRaven for longer reads or #ReadAloud.
