This is the phone I'm talking about that I revived, the on5xelte. Released in 2016. I think we got this when we were in Australia way back then. Passed down from my family and now to me, the caretaker of old, forgotten and dead phones and tablets.
I installed F-Droid then Termux, some Fossify apps, Ironfox, Rethink app and Open Camera cos I modded it and I didn't put GApps on it so no android webview thingy and deffo no google play services.
Battery's still good but it uses Micro-USB lmao. I have a ton of Micro-USB cables tho so it was no problem. Screen's still alright, it's just really fucking small for my big bear paws. Volume button's spotty though.
God, 10 years ago was pretty alright. Phones sucked, computer parts kinda sucked but they were pretty fucking affordable back then.

How do you get FIDO2 working on Ironfox on an of-the-shelf android (yeah I know... this is the bigger problem)? I can't use `s1m.hwfido2provider` because my device seems to be outdated. And I'm to stupid to setup microG. Any other options?

@celenity I cannot seem to disable #DoH / #DNSoverHTTPS on the latest #IronFox release (not sure about before). Despite changing settings it ways shows a DoH server in use in
about:networking#dnseven after a fully restarting the app.Can you check that out?
Edit: never mind. The cause was #grapheneOS adding new #VPN interfaces as "always on". 🙄 Ughhh, was almost going crazy.

For the next #IronFox release, we intend to remove built-in DNS over HTTPS providers that do not have their addresses signed with DNSSEC and/or do not enforce DNSSEC for domains that support it. We're making this change because we believe it's our responsibility to hold the default selection of providers to the highest possible standards, and due to the improvement in privacy and security that it will provide for users.
The following providers will be impacted:
- AdGuard
- AdGuard (Unfiltered)
- NextDNS
- Quad9
- WikimediaUnfortunately, as Quad9 is one of the providers impacted, we intend to switch the default provider for new users to Mullvad (Base).
If you are currently using any of the effected providers, your choice will be respected, and they will remain your selected DNS provider after updating, though we would strongly recommend switching to one of the other built-in providers if possible.
We wanted to share this announcement before release to make users aware and get feedback around this change. We look forward to hearing what the community thinks!
