  3. 🚨 New blog post: When Privacy Tools Fight Each Other – IronFox, Mullvad DNS and Quad9

In my latest article, I explain how I tracked down the problem, the online tools I used to verify it, why browser-level DNS can override system settings, and the simple change that solved everything.

  5. 🚨 New blog post: When Privacy Tools Fight Each Other – IronFox, Mullvad DNS and Quad9

I recently ran into a strange issue where websites loaded slowly and HTTPS connections randomly failed in IronFox. At first, I suspected the browser, but the real cause turned out to be a hidden DNS over HTTPS configuration that overrode my Android Private DNS settings.

In this post, I walk through the troubleshooting process, explain how I discovered IronFox was using Mullvad DNS instead of Quad9, share the tools I used to diagnose the problem, and show the simple fix that restored normal HTTPS connectivity.

It's a good reminder that adding more privacy layers doesn't always improve your setup—understanding how they interact is just as important.

  9. Messed around with an older Kindle Fire tablet this weekend, and stumbled-discovered you can side-load #fdroid through the Silk Browser. From there, you can install any of #deltachat, #ironfox, #orbot, #comaps,... even #supertuxcart

Installing apps through #AuroraStore is hit-or-miss, where the 'misses' are very informative: #firefox & #fennec must have hooks to Google Play Services, because they immediately crash upon opening in FireOS.

  16. Removed Cromite browser from my Android phone. It's outdated and has many unfixed security bugs. I was not using it anymore anyway. Ironfox is my preferred Android browser.

  21. @norbert Time to upgrade to #Ironfox by @celenity (formerly known as Mull browser) – think Firefox without the bad parts.

  23. How do you get FIDO2 working on Ironfox on an of-the-shelf android (yeah I know... this is the bigger problem)? I can't use `s1m.hwfido2provider` because my device seems to be outdated. And I'm to stupid to setup microG. Any other options?

  24. @celenity I cannot seem to disable #DoH / #DNSoverHTTPS on the latest #IronFox release (not sure about before). Despite changing settings it ways shows a DoH server in use in about:networking#dns even after a fully restarting the app.

    Can you check that out?

Edit: never mind. The cause was #grapheneOS adding new #VPN interfaces as "always on". 🙄 Ughhh, was almost going crazy.
