My last night of this trip in @jsbilsbrough’s place. Tomorrow we go to London to stay in a hotel. As I’m reminding myself it is just until the next trip. And we are using the word Lifetime to remind ourselves that we have a lifetime ahead of us.
#LongDistanceRelationships aren’t easy, but so worth it. I just don’t like this part of it.

No matter what people say, long distance relationships DO work. I just got off a call with @jsbilsbrough.
LDRs are hard work, and there are definitely days I cry being away from my fiance, but please know they DO work. It takes a lot of communication and a lot of patience on both sides. But don’t deny yourself the greatest partner(s) ever just because of long distance.
James is the best thing to ever happen to my life.

Years ago someone suggested setting aside one evening a month as a date night. That has been one of my major highlights each month as it’s a time that is just for the two of us.
We schedule it in our calendars and don’t let anything else get added in that time. Tonight was our February date-night and I had an amazing time.

We got these because we wanted something that was meaningful to us. We'd seen plane #tattoos signifying #LongDistanceRelationships, and Greg is a bit of a space geek.. so a rocket/planet piece seemed like a fun riff on that.
We decided I'd have the planet because one of the incredibly romantic and loving things he does is, after not seeing each other for 6 months (3 years during covid), and we finally get to have sex again, is he always makes a comment about finally being home again.. and I like the idea that he finds 'home' when he's with me. Especially being #NonMonogamous, it would be easy to feel like his home with his wife is more than his home with me.. but it's not. We're both home.
I also feel that the rocket/planet thing fits with #NonMonogamy, because you can have more than one rocket visiting a planet, and more than one planet visited by a rocket.. it's not a 'you're my other half' type of image.
We wanted the pieces to link, but not be identical. We wanted it so that when we held hands they lined up together.
We wanted cutesy, and the whole fairy, unicorn, glitter, and rainbows vibe.
I think the artist (SamSparkels) hit the brief perfectly, and I absolutely love both pieces!

We had a play dinner, made a dopey snowman we named Henry, then we went to do a little dancing but ended up making a pillow fort, and ended the night in a hot tub watching Tim Burton's Corpse Bride (cause he'd never seen I before).
