  1. Finished making the wire harness & installed it into the original #jamma harness, trimmed the #cpo (control panel overlay), cut out the panel holes, & install the sticks & buttons. Installed the monitor glass & will complete wiring everything up either tonight or this weekend. Either way, this #tmnt #arcade #cabinet will be completed this weekend. More to come.

  3. Repairing my OEM #jamma harness to the #tmnt #arcade cabinet. I have a spare harness that I am using for parts, transferring the player 1 & 2 harness over to the original edge connector but I’m missing the player 1 joystick k harness from the #molex disconnect, so I’ll have to build & wire one from scratch. Pins should arrive tomorrow, now I just need to find where I placed that box with my joysticks and buttons. #restoration

  5. I recently set up a Groovy MiSTer system and found that none of the guides quite covered everything I needed to know, so I wrote another one!

  15. Ok, the problem is definitely an issue with the addressing: I checked with MAME: the graphics that shows up garbled is stored in two mask roms, g27 and g26, and is stored in horizontal interleaved stripes (makes sense, given that these roms are 8bit and this machine runs on a 68k). You remove a ROM, you get missing stripes in the letters.

The garbage we see is made up of coherent stripes, taken from the wrong place in the ROM. We even see whole letters at times. Definitely not corruption in the roms themselves.

No idea if I'll have time tomorrow, but I have an idea of where to look next. #jamma #repair

  20. Almost! But not yet.
All the selftests are passing (after swapping out 3 more ram chips), but I still have garbled text.

Bad mask rom or addressing issue?
This is going to be a PITA. #JAMMA #repair

  30. What the... I've never seen corrosion of this type. It looks almost like something that grows. This is on a #JAMMA arcade PCB (and of course it has melted the pins of a custom IC...
I wonder if I can Dremel it to try and recover it.

  35. It's been a long time since I had to work on #JAMMA boards. At the time I used an ugly adapter made on a protoboard.
Now, I do have some other #arcade PCBs that need my attention, so I decided to a quickly design a semi-decent adapter to help me. I know there are dozens around, but hey... Sometimes drawing a PCB is just relaxing.

My idea was to design another card that plugs on top of this one providing and adapter for gaming controllers, but alone this will do for testing.

  40. Finally fixed the #segaswing sound issue. The previous vendor #hacked the harness for the 12v line & speakers. The #jamma harness was so messed up I installed #femalerca & just ran a #rcacable to the #amp. Works great now! I then installed a 12v power supply & installed a power plug then repaired the 12v line on the harness.

  42. (2/2)

When it came to the discussion how "mechanical" video gaming is even possible, I fetched the "BLIP" handheld from my collection to show how #Pong can be played mechanically.

The upright flatscreen shows a multi-#arcade #Jamma board with games like #SpaceInvaders, #PacMan and >500 more.

Unluckily ma #Vectrex had a breakdown in the end of the session. 💔
