Catastrophic #HackMD failure today :(

I use it when teaching most of my classes, they had some outage today, https://status.hackmd.io says they are back up but... all my notes are marked "offline" and I can't edit them! I need them for my classes!
I usually edit them together with the participants during class, we all share code and image results.
(I'm happy to have backed up locally most of my notes, but still... I'm very upset as I have many ongoing classes)

Update: After some more 5XX, it seems to be working again. But the "offline" bug/issue is scary (the offline flag/button still flashes). A good reminder that "the cloud" is other people's servers.

@Em0nM4stodon @cryptpad I’ve switched to #CryptPad for collaborative docs since #HackMD now silently shares your document publicly as soon as you add a single collaborator unless you’re on a paid account (you used to be able to add 3 people for free)

I have more than 100 notes on #hackmd, I have some scripts to download them, and also download the images on the notes. With a few tweeks (to make links bewtween pages work, and images load from a local copy) now my downloads are integrated with my #logseq notes ...

Bonus: the free tier hackmd account is terrible for searching, now I have great search from my local logseq notes :)

Durante muito tempo usei #Etherpads nas aulas, mas sentia muita falta de poder por imagens facilmente, isso pra mim é a "killer feature" de usar markdown. Infelizmente, não tenho o tempo e energia que gostaria para usar a solução mais livre que é o https://hedgedoc.org/
Então, recomendo a todos que usam o HackMD que façam uma cópia backup dos seus arquivos/notas. Dá pra baixar todos no painel "settings" ou usar a API deles como faço com estes scripts toscos aqui: https://gist.github.com/villares/f4f35630c28222767dd276fd08bcdbb5

Agora eu salvo com #Python #pickle os dados das notas, e se a data de modificação mudou eu baixo novamente, senão eu pulo a nota (e mostro essa data no console)

@tschneid Ich nutze die einfachen $$ in Markdown immer für Inline-Formeln (z.B. in #HackMD und mit #PanDoc geht das so) - scheint aber kein genereller Markdown-Standard zu sein. Ich werde mal testen, ob die \\(...\\)-Variante in den anderen Markdown-Interpretern läuft.

I wish server infrastructure wasn't so expensive and deploy so cumbersome for non-specialist people.
I'd love to have a #hedgedoc instance to use instead of #hackmd

In my collaborative projects we use #HackMD realtime editing.

We just have an established convention that pages get a good H1 `# Title` as the first line & that they get exported as #Markdown files to a #MassiveWiki when work is complete on that pad.

Then we edit the pad title to include the phrase "moved to wiki" or similar & delete the body of the pad so the wiki page is now obviously the primary version.

The steps are few & easy, even if manual.
