  1. @goblin @teq @jadehopepunk i think one area we've dropped the ball a bit is making use of other group's learnings, resources and communities. i think at least 1/4, maybe 3/4 of stuff we're doing across our community, is stuff that people have already done, here or internationally. we've gotta make more effort to find those things and work with more collaborators globally (and conversely make sure we make our work usable and findable to other groups)

  2. As much as I love my digital notes systems, I've realised that one of the reasons I keep coming back to physical notes organising is that my notebook is a form of 'mind palace', that is, having the information connected with physical space in a way I can continually revisit, is possibly the reason why physical notes feel so much easier to comprehend and connect in my head.

Do any of you find physical knowledge storage easier or make use of physical memory aids?

I am wondering how i can modify my system to actually make use of this feature as it was certainly not intentional

  5. @goblin so relatable.. the thing thats helped me most is a paper planner i carry with me everywhere cos my brain just cant internalise digital reminders and calendars as real. when im in the habit of checking it it is the best but i dont have a foolproof method to not forget that...
time sensitive things like sleeping on time, thats another story :flop:

  6. very awesome weekend just happened, got to participate in the preview showing of the AMP exhibition and lead a powerpoint about the program itself (slides on digital garden when i have a minute to set it up) it was so cool to see all our work come to fruition! Then sage on sunday was as inspiring as ever <3 #WorkOutLoud

  7. Does anyone in adl know of any diy auto shops? i'm thinking like ABK for cars, kinda guided time to work on ur vehicle, i'm watching videos on stuff to learn what to look for but it's hard to poke around just in my carpark and having limited tools at my disposal (for now). Need to at least redo the head gasket but not sure how deep to go. Anyways , more importantly i'm going to start taking stock of the vehicles various systems and figure out what parts i need to source/service #WorkOutLoud

  8. @bounding_star @goblin I know that @teq actively practices documenting in the open (I’m sure they have they own explanation). Teq any tips for folks getting started on publically documenting all the things?

  13. @mackiwg

Yes, that’s a core one! I’m really interested in the work of metagov.org/ for this reason.

I’ve personally found two big ones especially in coalitions:

    1) creating conditions in which people are willing to #WorkOutLoud

    2) cultivating comfort and skill to voice concerns without either avoiding conflict or disintegrating into arguments

  14. Continuing the descent into the wormhole of #colour and thinking about pixels, pantones and pigments
(Can you think of any other P's where colour is concerned?)
Anyway today the history of the #Pixel computerhistory.org/blog/the-t.

  15. CW: I like this concept of #WorkOutLoud. Here's my intro

@davoloid I love that you have shared this #WorkOutLoud I do find it interesting to read what others are in the middle of, even if I'm not entirely sure I understand it all. Having said that my husband works with #MicrosoftDynamics and #PowerApps so in this case it wasn't all totally beyond me. Good luck with the exam revision

  19. @iamalsoandy Well I didn't use that hashtag whilst working out loud on twitter, I just used to do all my thinking publicly, and it turns out that's a process called #WorkOutLoud.
For me it's 1) accountability to act on something because I'm externalisting 2) I think I'm ADHD so it kind of helps me to process 3) Others chip in and expand my learning, and sometimes me theirs
    4) It's like a record I can go back through when looking for trails/connections and 'aha moments'
    5) I don't feel lonely

  20. One of the things I did on Twitter was #WorkOutLoud as I prefer it to note taking elsewhere.

Externalising the spider web of thinking helps me process wide and disparate ideas. It's not that I expect a response. Sometimes I'll get lucky and find other people interested or knowledgeable about what I'm learning/sharing

  21. Kicked off an internal blog to share work process and thoughts this year, and wondering what self-hosted static blog comment solutions y'all have found that work.

Tried isso (python, failed) and another that wanted ElasticSearch in docker (too demanding of resources) yesterday ...

Anonymous comments option preferred, it's internal only.
