  1. @glynmoody I find it funny that in order to read the article about AI-caused knowledge collapse I have to consent to some stuff or sign up ... so guess what? I did not read it. The knowledge collapse came from not being able to read stuff any more. One used to be able to read the paper at coffee and no-one recorded and tracked your reading over your shoulder or waved stuff in your face. Many could read the same issue. Paper is now more important but almost gone for ever.

  2. After subscribing to The Guardian for several years I'm now two-timing with a month's i subscription before I decide which to continue with.

So far, the i articles seem just as well-written/researched, less verbose, and without The Guardian's obvious "chip on the shoulder" that becomes tedious after a while.

Shame about the paywall though, especially as "gift links" don't seem to be supported.

  7. #ukpol #corrupt But everything is fine now, so that's ok then. FFS
"three former MPs" & "opponents of Brexit" . Interesting choice of worders from the #Grauniad. They were MP's at the time and solidly for #RemainEU. Slightly stronger than just #stopbrexit although they did speak for us in the HoC. #remainsteadfast #ForeverEUropean 💖 🇪🇺 😎 ✊

  8. #futureproof #tech #AI #communication #blackswan #media #po;itics The day is coming when we'll be back to quill pen and parchment viz the drop out rate of 'cutting edge' advances. Two examples in my experience. #mobile connectivity = zero. #BBCSounds = zero. No TV since the liars fixed the referendum vote. Papers online, do I trust em anymore. Even the #Grauniad beginning to get a bit whiffy. It is #genocide (& has been for a long time) & #Farage is a #fascist and #refugeesarewelcome.

  9. Despite Lewis’ love of animals & distress at running over a groundhog, you have to think that the word he said here was “vanes” … 🙄

  10. @CppGuy thanks, didnt know that. Im also using vanadium on grapheneOS, have created a separate sandboxed user just for the #grauniad @1br0wn

  11. if these people have 20-30+ years experience in the TV industry, they surely would know this has been a problem for 3 decades, the rot set in during the 90s when the regional TV companies cannibalised each other and thousands of jobs were lost - first to go were the younger and minority staff (this was even before #streaming #media ) and they didn't get a #Grauniad column back then (it seemed folk in the #CreativeIndustries were in denial about what was happening)

  12. #Grauniad columnist is asking who started the culture war between cyclists and drivers. I don't know but I certainly know who is string shit as long as they can make a living out of it.

    Please don't click

  13. The irony of seeing Kensington&Chelsea flooded with bikes (whereas the council is hell bent on not having bike lanes) is not lost on me.

Meanwhile the #Grauniad typists flet obliged to add a reference to helmet in the story

  14. I can see the advantages of the LGPS being one scheme rather than many. But as someone with a family member whose pension fund was raided by Mugger Murdoch, our pension pots being viewed as resources to fund our employers’ activities is worrying…

Also, it has not been a final salary scheme in over a decade.

  15. Oh Adrian Chiles has written an apology for driving whilst being distracted with his mobile phone in the #Grauniad. They gave it the cute name of "Waze Dad".
