  2. I finished reading Michael S. Malone's book "The Intel Trinity" the same day one of its subjects, Intel's Gordon Moore, died at 94. Coincidence.

This book is about Robert Noyce & Gordon Moore, founders of Intel plus early employee & future CEO Andy Grove.

It's partly about the technology and silicon valley, but mostly about the people and I'd recommend it for that.

  5. #GordonMoore felt that the lesson of #Microma was that #Intel should stay out of consumer products. But the WHY is more important: Intel never had a plan and wasn't ready to adapt to changing consumer tastes or to market their #DigitalWatch effectively. In the end, #Seiko and #Casio succeeded by following the Microma business plan but also listening to customers.

  17. RIP.

"With great sadness, the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation announces the passing of our founder, Gordon Moore.
    [...]
It took decades for Gordon to be able to speak with a straight face of his eponymous “Moore’s Law,” the prophetic 1965 observation that became a cornerstone principle of innovation and driving force for the exponential pace of technological progress in the modern world."
