A recent thing I've been working on in #CityEngine is consolidating the more generic #python tools I have into a user friendly set of scripts with an nicer interface. I am only occasionally good at python coding so producing something like this that actually works I am pretty proud of! #GIS #geodesign #geography #urban #architecture

Here's an image from my 'Howgill City' demo #CityEngine project. Lots of rules for small and large geometries here. Most needed updating to the latest version. And a lot of them I would have coded differently now! #3D #GIS #Geodesign #Esri #visualisation (yes I do spaceships)

CW: Long thought about procedural tools
Simple decisions about what it is you want to control, dictate how you code your building for example. Does a user want to control height by floors or metres? If floors how high is a floor? Lots of my code is governed by assumptions. I have to be careful here as my assumptions may not be others... I think a key skill in #urbanplanning #geodesign is empathy. Don't assume people work or live like you.

Made some #CityEngine #python code which has a GUI element and saves me and the client loads of tedious stuff and time. Feel like a god for a brief second 😂 #geodesign #planning (code for course is cobbled together from various sites on internet!)
